More bad news for the Ford works team Latvala has broken his collar bone and is out for the next month. Good chance for Petter to build up a points lead over his team mate and a good chance for Ostberg to be the 2nd nominated points scorer for the team (after his win last time out).

Apparently it cant be Mads as he is registered to score points with his own team, and would get a fine and possible exclusion from the championship!

Planet Marcus on FB has posted a link this morning saying it could be Sordo, but i cant find news any where else at the moment.

Sorry if this is old news, ive been away from PH & the internet for almost 2 weeks

Toyota GT86 Rally car built to compete in the Japanese Rally championship

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxy_2jLBwzA

it retains its RWD layout, and there is a rumour that Subaru are develpoing a 4WD version! thumbup

i dont think Sordo will be filling JML's seat for the rounds he's going to miss, as with Ostberg, Tanak & Novikov it will affect their own Championship/Team standings. Remember Kimmi's Ice Racing got booted out after he didnt turn up last year for WRC Australia.

it likely to be an old WRC driver, Gronholm, Atkinson & Henning Solberg are the main rumoured contenders, with Craig Breen being talked about as it isnt a SWRC round.

am i the only one who thinks Kris Meeke would make a welcome guest driver??

Im not sure his contract with Pro Drive would allow that. Would be good to see Guy Wilks...

Atkinson already has a couple of WRC drives this year lined up with Block IIRC, not sure if that would put him out of contention to fill in for JML?

Block is only lined up to do New Zealand and Finland this year.

Atkinson is doing the Asia Pacific Raly Championship and their next two rounds clash with Argentina and Greece.

i wouldnt expect him to give up his lead in the championship just to 'stand in' for a WRC team on the off chance he may get something out of it, if that were the case all the behind the scenes stuff he's been doing with Monster Rally team should have proved more fruitful than an entry on Mexico?

Its a difficult one as there are few drivers available with enough pace an experience to do a good enough job for Ford and get some points!

In other news Prodrive are to miss the next couple rounds including the Acropolis... bkS!

Looking more likely that Sordo will stand in for JML: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/98924

"Dani Sordo is expected to be confirmed as Jari-Matti Latvala's substitute in the works Ford World Rally driver line-up for Rally Argentina later on Tuesday morning.

Sources in Spain have stated that an agreement between Sordo and Ford has already been reached.

Sordo's deal to drive a factory Fiesta RS WRC is anticipated to be for the South American event only, with regular driver Latvala expected to be fit again for the following round in Greece."

Sordo is a great choice, and its good (subject to confirmation) of Mini to let him stand in, even if he wouldnt have alot else to do that weekend anyway.

Im praying JML is back for Greece though, there is no better sight in rallying than seeing him pusing on IMO.

I was wondering where the logic was in using Sordo until I realized he was sitting a couple of rallies out. Should keep him fresh, but will he be able to get used to the focus quickly enough?

Sordo confirmed.
Good choice imo! I'd like to have seen Ken Block have a go in a works Ford. Not because he is good (he isn't compared to the others) but because he's very exciting to watch!
Obviously Ford don't want exciting they want points.

Sordo has been testing today. He is a great choice out of the available drivers, I wonder how much tech info he will be able to pass on to Mini wink

Dont be silly the FIA are far to busy with the F1 wink

We were meant to hear something at the end of March but there has been no rumours or anything! I believe Argentina is again being show on Motors TV, which has upped its game a lot this year IMO.
