MOTOR SPORT makeover, not impressed...

I mentioned this when I was in the EVO office, that many people think they have a huge Porsche bias. Apparently, they all think a 911 in its various guises really is that good. Think they get quite annoyed about it to be honest
Well Meaden should have proved his "unbiased" view and published the second test results for the CSL round Bedford. Clearly the first car was a tired example that was 2 seconds a lap slower than a fresher one. That makes it nearly a rapid as a GT3RS and we couldn't have that, could we?

...I still think evo cover a wide variety of cars. Ok this month is an Italian issue
And they still managed to put in 20+ pages of Porsche material Rich...
I don't really mind the new look and feel. It was always a mag I bought for it's editorial content, which is still pretty enjoyable, especially the track tests, which always seem to be of classic vehicles.
Autosport on the other hand has been a comic for about the last 4 years, which was when I canned my subscription. They should rename it "F1 Racing" or whatever and let it fade into obscurity which is were it should go given the current level of journalism in it.

Re Autosport, it is going downhill. The whole thing seems to be gravitating more and more towards F1, with stuff like WRC and sportscars becoming ever more marginalised.
Try being a drag racing fan then! I honestly can't remember ever seeing the FIA or FIM/UEM series ever getting a mention in Autosport. I've been at Santa Pod when the place was heaving with enormous crowds, basking in glorious weather and watching magnificent racing, yet a local F3 race with a crowd on about 10 gets a bigger mention. Huh?

I've seen about 3 news items in the 7 years I've been reading it. Never a report. Must go to a dag meet next season
Everyone should see two top fuel cars run in anger at least once. It's staggering. I wouldn't mind the lack of coverage, but the Brits actually do pretty well, certainly in top fuel and some of the bike classes - in the past few seasons we've had Andy Carter (2), Smax Smith and and Barry Sheavills as champions. Not to mention the fastest times and speeds outside of North America. I know people criticise it for being "all over in a few seconds", but seriously, it totally batters the senses.
Quite apart from anything else, admission to both European championship rounds at Santa Pod is about £26, and for that you get a full day of racing in all manner of bike and car classes, plus various bonkers exhibition runs from the jets and suchlike. Plus free reign of the pit area. Bernie's travelling circus may have all the glamour, but on sheer spectacle and value for money you can't beat a day at the strip. All IMHO obviously.
Kind of agree with that. When I went to Florida on holiday we went out into the back of beyond and found a little local dragstrip were they were holding a "run what you brung". A evenings stonking entertainment for about $5. No top fuelers but a couple of decent funny cars and lots of mental bikers with things like NO2 juiced Ducati 916's......

Try going to an FIA GT or LMES race next season. Long races for £20-£30 weekend admission. Thats value for money

The last two Britcar events at Donington and Brands were only a tenner!
Super value methinks.
