Don't know why, but this is one of my favourite Mustangs - out and out muscle-car agression yet surprisingly unadorned. Critics say it's flabby, I say it's brutal, and that near-horizontal fastback window gives it striking presence.:

As for design, I like Flaminio Bertoni's approach (he did the Citroen DS) - when the car's designed and a study model's made, don't bother with fancy wheels, paint it grey and empty a dustbin over it. If it still looks good, you're on to a winner.

A friend in Wick had one of these in the middle 70s and I could run rings round it with my Fiat 124 SpecialT. While he was sitting there smoking up the tyres I would be way down the runway and he could never catch me, take it on the twisty stuff and it hadn't a hope
Now I did own a 83 Stang....

and now own a Mustang engined MG and love it

Does anyone know whether this is legitimately going ahead on 2005? I applied at the end of last year and received an email last Friday saying I had been selected for an assessment day. Is this legitimate or is it likely to be a money-making scam (although the admin fee is only £45)?

Is it a money making scam?

I could not possibly comment!

Don't know about the present state of the company behind this, but as a competitor I think that it is difficult to fault the concept.

OK, the competition standard isn't that high (as proven by the rapid petering out of last years competitors careers), and yes, if you wanted to be the next Michelle Schumacher, then you'd have been Karting since you were 8.

But, and its a big but, there is a chance to qualify for a reasonably compeititive series for a few hundred quid (with transport, acomodation etc included), sounds OK.

To test most racing cars, you're looking at more cash, so its not actually a bad deal.

If you are looking to launch a career and set the world on fire, then probably not the best place to be. If you fancy a go and can afford it, then why not.

Don't expect everything to be fair along the way - but hey - that's motorsport. Doesn't stop us all going back for more year on year.

I've just checked your profile Lucien and, may I ask, are you really 13 or is that a subtle joke that I completely missed? If that is your drawing and you are 13 you will go far. Keep studying hard, never lose that great sense of humour of yours (I read your post re-school pranks ) and above all, keep your dreams alive

Edited to add this one too www.designerspace.com

Thanks. That took me 3 hours that did . The lines are a bit wobbly, but practicve makes perfect (allegedly).

I am 13 (and 1/2 ) and there's proof in Danger Mouse's profile (I'm pretty sure there's a photo of him, me and Twink, his CRX, at the Boudicea run on my birthday in May. I'm wearing the PH rugby shirt. Thanks to John [Simpo Two] for taking that photo )

Thanks for appreciating my sense of humour (there's only a small, select group who you who do ).

I will keep working on the designing thing, but first I have to convince my parents that I can work hard enough and be good enough so that car design isn't too difficult for me. I want to go to Coventry and do Trnasport Design like my cousin, but they're unwilling to let me at the moment. But I still have 5 years to work on them

Lightningghost, Check out this website for a bit of inspiration and some very good tutorials.

As for going for the dream, stick at it. However, it is extremely hard to get into, so make sure you have a back-up plan... such as sitting on your backside 'running' a car related website

If you look through Motorsport news / Autosport their are regular schemes like this, the main difference seems to be that they are run by motorsport prep companies not TV companies. They tend to be run to raise a budget for a coming season and normally cost about £100. The problem with the world today is that when a company liquidises you can't tell if its a corporate move or taking people for a ride.

Cheers

Cheers Groomi.

Will do. If I can't do design, maybe I'll do journalism and if not that I'll probably do something with money and just own a load of cool cars
