He was a naughty boy - he got caught and embarrassed on national tele. Job jobbed, move on.
I know the PH is a 'bring back hanging for stealing a handkerchief' sort of a place, but come one Mopar, it was a fairly minor offence - and natural justice has been served.
At least in my opinion.

Well you all love Rob Austin, and that's fair enough. He doesn't love his fans though.
Natural justice? He still kept the pole, which I find bizarre.
There were a number of fines and "official warnings" handed out after the Brands rounds, all (in my opinion) for incidents in the heat of the (racing) moment, usually borne out of frustration.
But Austin? No further action (as far as I am aware) for being a cheat.
Sorry to repeat myself, but absolutely bizarre.

Touring cars isn't pure racing or fair.Natural justice? He still kept the pole, which I find bizarre.

It is however very popular with the fans and has a maasive tv audience.
Rules are changed to keep the racing close and exciting so fans don't get bored.
You might not like that but that's how it is.
Natural justice = he was caught out and embarrassed on national TV. In my opinion that is a punishment that fits the crime*.
Reset button was pressed. Draw was done again in fair manner.
In many ways it shows how good everyone has it at the moment if this is all we have got to be outraged about!

- Its not that everyone 'loves Rob Austin' its just everyone else on here has a sense of proportionality. It's not like it was pre-meditated and he fitted illegal parts to the car. It was 'heat of the moment' (as you put it - something you use to condone contact, another form of cheating arguably). He saw his number and went 'oooh - *grab*.' - it was the wrong thing to do, but a silly moment of madness rather than a calculated subversion of the rules.

Yeah so what Austin did was perhaps 'unsportsmanlike' but this is a serious racing series not gentlemanly club racing where they all doff their flat caps shake hands and wish each other a jolly good race.
Any other driver would have done the same in the moment. Most wouldn't come clean though - at least he put his hands up and said sorry.

I agree. Therefore there should be a "serious" punishment. Not the "gentlemanly club racing" "Oh, he's a bounder, isn't he?" reaction that we have,MondeoMan1981 said:

Any other driver would have done the same? Really? But he put his hands up and said sorry. That makes it all right then.
He didn't have any choice! He was caught!

Either stop watching or carry on watching, you can bh and moan as much as you like unless your one of Austin's sponsors and threatening to leave the team because of the ball pick incident , then you have no say as to how the btcc is run.

No its not, its just that some people take it seriously, which is why they are offended.emicen said:
