Surely there's only one option!? Back to Corsica
Unless they decide to base it around Ogiers place of birth, doubtful given he's in the VW, possible if he was still at Citroen, or maybe they will base it at the Citroen factory?
I never cared much for the Alsace run of the championship. the roads were too similar to the German round imho.

I think lack of funding was the reason the WRC abandoned Corsica at the end of 2009 ?
It would be fantastic is Corsica got the event back (I've been there twice) but I'm doubtful.
I must admit, I wasn't particularly smitten with the Alsace route/stages, but having watched a shed load of Youtube videos of last years event over the past couple of months, I was tempted to spectate on it this year. Partially 'cause it would have been so easy to get to ! ! Looks like I'll be heading to Germany again (unless they find a really good French venue).

There is only ine option; Tour de Corse. The FiA should instruct that the FFSA move it there.....or no Rallye France. Personally, the Italian WRC round should be gravel/ Tarmac Sanremo in October - not another dry, dusty gravel event in Sardinia.
Then, return NZ to the WRC and ditch the current event in Australia; NZ has the best roads in the world!

Plus throw in the Safari and Acropolis and what a great WRC season we would have! Then, return NZ to the WRC and ditch the current event in Australia; NZ has the best roads in the world!

Ogier is from Gap - the same place were the Monte is based.....which one possible reason it moved from Valence.Unless they decide to base it around Ogiers place of birth, doubtful given he's in the VW, possible if he was still at Citroen, or maybe they will base it at the Citroen factory?

This, but Corsica and France aren't exactly high on each others Christmas card lists ! ! Sanremo should be all tarmac as there's plenty of loose stuff in the championship already. Spain should be May, June, July, August or early Sept ie it should be moved to the date Australia or Poland currently occupy. Then, return NZ to the WRC and ditch the current event in Australia; NZ has the best roads in the world!

Mrs Chev and I have made the rather impetuous decision to go to Rally Finland for our summer hols this year. Any recommendations for best stages, etc. gratefully received.
A truly excellent event and one I hugely enjoyed when we went a few years ago... I'll have to look up the stages that we went to but a few quick bits of advice. There is a zero tolerance to drinking and driving in Finland, the police will have breathalysers on the stage access roads in the mornings(in locations where you can't discretely turn around) and they make all drivers (not just a random few cars) blow in the bag... the year I was there the number of Estonian plated cars abandoned by the breath tests was epic)
I acted as Designated Driver for our whole trip, it was simply easier to go tee total.
Stage access roads are often the same as the stages themselves in terms of surface, quality, width etc... if the weather's bad they will be slow and you will need to hire a 4x4 - some of the stages we went to we simply wouldn't have accessed in a normal car.
No matter where you hire a car from, if it's the week of the rally the Excess will increase (the car hire co's all have notes on their desks to this effect.
If you only make it to one stage, go to Ouninpohja (the famous yellow house jump) yes it'll be packed, yes it'll be a long walk and you'll need to be there early but the atmosphere is brilliant and the photo ops incredible.
If you want to score come brownie points then away from the rally head to Kuopio, a lovely city with a lively street scene and plenty of non motoring things to do.
Enjoy!

Some advice for you, when you get into the stage don't stop at the first place you arrive at to watch. Keep walking and get away from the crowds. People are generally lazy and will stand at the first place they get to which is generally full of idiots.
I went to the Wyedean year before last and most of the corners we stood at had a handful of spectators at most on them.
I'd advise getting into the stages an hour or so before the first car is due through, this gives you enough time to find a good spot to spectate at, and take plenty of food and drink!

it was always the case mon ami !! chatsworth on the lombard mid 80's when 30 odd thousand turned up - nightmare getting in, spectating and getting out ! I went to the Wyedean year before last and most of the corners we stood at had a handful of spectators at most on them.

Agreed! I usually park between Sallow vallets and Serridge stages and just swap part way through the day. The entry filled up within a week with 165 cars entered, so there is a good 3 hours entertainment on show I went to the Wyedean year before last and most of the corners we stood at had a handful of spectators at most on them.

Always a great event - and quite a few have been snowy; and always used to be the first sighting of the year of the Peugeot-Cosworth. Sadly, and stupidly now banned.
I always park at Serridge, and walk across the road for the Speech House stage. First outing for most people, so a big entry is expected.

I normally park across the road from Speech House too in the forestry car parks and then walk into eith Serridge (I think) and Speech House.
Speech is a favourite with the nobheads and oiks particularly at the corners close to the main road. We tend to walk a long way in Speech House to get away from them nd go somewhere quieter with more action promised.
In other news I think I'll be out co-driving on the Somerset Stages and the TSH stages this year to start off with. (If I ever escape Japan that is) Then I think we might be off to Ireland to throw the spanners around on the Mitsi WRC car for a few tarmac rounds.
The missus is going to love me.
