Nissan Lmp1 car launched. Front engined.

Smart move really. Im going to hazard a guess that the coverage/PR return for LeMans is 10x that of the other WEC rounds, so theres no point trying to make do with a car that's not ready, trundling around the back at those rounds. Look at McLaren Honda to see the poor PR that brings..
Even so, coming 6th at LeMans with a car that looks like that will bring more coverage than a Toyota/Strakka coming 4th, look at the buzz surrounding the deltawing. (that wasnt even racing anyone!)

Darren Cox keeps going on about the coverage for Le Mans; but as far as the UK is concerned, it gets very little mainstream coverage. Unless, sadly, there is an accident.... I think people overplay how big it actually is. The normal TV & radio stations tend to ignore it. Eurosport, and especially RadioLeMans do a great job, but they're preaching to the converted. The race, and series needs promoting to 'outsiders'. Especially, now, as F1 seems intent on killing itself.
I'd say Eurosport is pretty mainstream and they show the whole 24 hour race. BBC/ITV can't dedicate the level of coverage a sports channel can sadly that's the nature of the beast and why WEC still isn't as popular as it could be. For the more casual fan a 6 hour race is too long nevermind 24 hours.

Didn't think it'd be that busy to be honest? Staying fairly local and I think access has improved somewhat since I watched Hakkinen send one round the outside of the Cobbler at Copse.
Whilst not 'busy' per se, there is plenty of space in the grandstands etc and getting in and out is much easier (out is still a bit tricky at car park exit), it's a bit of a trek around to the Wing and the buses running around fill up very quickly. I find it a far nicer experience than the F1 weekends.l354uge said:

A Strakka coming fourth would be absolutely massive news! I think it's all in the hands of the Nissan PR people and I'm already starting to get a twitch at the expectation of Darren Cox soundbites on uber repeat at every interview he does over the Le Mans weekend. Going back to Strakka, I still think it would do Nissan well to look at the lessons of the Strakka Dome from last year and the actions they took to safeguard their entire project rather than rushing into an (albeit much smaller in the Strakka Dome case) PR minefield.

Perfect, that's kind of what I'd hoped for. While I don't expect the kids to be able to stomach the full 6 hours, there should be plenty around to inspire them. It's also a snip at £80 for the 4 of us.marshall100 said:

Lots of activities at the back of the Wing and you can wander through the paddock and look into the back of some/most of the garages (obviously Audi/Porsche/Toyota are a bit fenced off)Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
