I've just sent Ted an e-mail regarding the new series, I think the contents speak volumes. I could be wrong, hope I am, but what do you chaps feel, really.

Good luck lads. 29 (Ex)

P.S I've given up smoking, 18 days and counting.

P.P.S Ted, I don't think you will be needing the "TEAM" heading, (restricted), save the space mate.

Well....I've looked on the homepage....no news there ..unless I'm one of the three mice......

So...what IS the news about the series, if there is one, this year.

Bearing in mind that ROs and regions who support the racing base their events around race dates, it would be good to have an idea of whether there will even BE a series at all.

Come on Rod......what's happening?

O.K, for those not on the e-mail listings, there's good news and bad.

Dealing with the latter(the bad) first, the e-mail asks that all competitors for the 2005 series place a deposit with TVR of £1000 plus vat to secure an engine for the coming series, this is without any formal confirmation from TVR that the series will run,the costs of the engine lease, entry fees, how it will operate, what spares are/will be available, will it be national A or B series, what changes will be implimented, what about TV coverage, yes/no, etc, etc in short NO information at all, but they want your money by the 17th of Jan or in thier own words, there will be no series, this is apparently the second reminder to get your money to TVR. Plot lost maybe!!!!!!!

They then outline a 8 event, 11 rounds program

DATE / VENUE / DOUBLE HEADER

Mar 28/ MP/ no
Apr 17/ BH/ yes
May 7/8/ ANG/ yes
May 30/ CC/ no
June 5/ MP/ no
July 9/ BH/ yes
July 30/ OP/ no
Sept 24/ SN/ no

PROVISIONAL ONLY

Now these could change and I'm not sure if I'm reading this right, but two of the races seem to be at Mallory Park, rather a small venue, cheap mind you, and another in Anglesey !!!!!!!! I think that's in Wales somewhere OK, it's a new start so one has to expect some changes, but come on TVR, give these Guy's a break, meet them half way and tell them something so they can justify dropping a Grand in your laps, I mean Jesus H Christ, frying pan, fire or what.

So no Knockhill or Croft then? That programme will keep the supporters in Scotland and the North interested then

At least I gather the TVRCC Challenge Cup are doing KH and Croft in 2005, but it would have been nice to see the Tuscans soo.

Now we are getting somewhere

Just had a long chat with John Reid who has now been appointed as Head of TVR motorsport. Good news all round.

1. New series WILL run for 2005
2. 95% sure that series will be "National B"
3. National B, anyone with a race licence.
4. Car power reduced by 3 secs per lap
5. controlled slicks less speed/lastlonger.
6. Reduced entry fees and overall costs
7. Two seaters allowed subject to spec
8. Engine lease max £6000, could be less
9. New TVR race car entries
10. Awaiting cofirmation of new race venues
11. use of own engine permitted subject to ECU
12. spare parts service under consideration.

So, TVR have been busy, just kept it a little bit too quite, My intention has been met, Tvr do watch these boards, it all gets reported back, particularly if I have a go, I think they have Ex29 radar alarms!!!!!

To be honest, I know that John has been trying very hard to put this whole "new" series together without a lot of help from people that could make life a lot easier for him, me included. It's therefore hard for me to have a go at him when I know he's working with one hand halfway up his back, he will deny this if asked as he's "old school" on matters of loyalty.

So there it is, If you want to race a Tuscan in 2005, it's time to get things sorted, I,ve still got my car, just been fully refurbished, looks great, so good that i don't really want to sell it, might run someone or even come and do a few races, who knows

Well here's hoping things sort out...

ITs been a difficult time for TVR and especially the Motorsport end of things. But hopefully its back on track. Although we could all do without the usual tvr communications method ( mushrooms)

Its just a nut and bolt job to convert mine back from rover to ajp so if things do work out we might do a round or two at the end of the season.

Will do, I'll be at the Autosport show tomorrow, taking the whippersnapper, No:6, with us and will be talking to lots of sponsors, drivers and teams etc, must say however that I am getting a lot of calls from ex Tuscan drivers looking at alternatives, guess some are not that happy with what is proposed.

Lets hope it will appeal to a new generation of drivers It sounds if it will be a much cheaper, club level, lower status series, and as it will be run at 4/5 seconds a lap slower in order to obtain the lesser National B licence level, it's more likly to appeal to those that haven't experienced the faster lap times, good luck to them, hope it works out.

Now that the information gained from the Autosport show has had time to filter through, and having talked to almost everyone who has ever had anything to do with TVR and Tuscan racing, I think it is fair to comment as follows;

I. John Reid at TVR motorsport is trying everything he knows to get this new series going, he is enthusiastic, upbeat and confident and is totally loyal to TVR dispite what appears to be a complete lack of real interest from N.S and his management team.

2.The management position could be forced on them due to financial pressures and the need to apply all efforts to the core TVR business of making road cars, so we must be careful about putting them in the firing line

3. What we can have a very big go about is the TVR policy of "saying nothing". It is this arrogance and indifference that has been the main comunication problem at TVR for years, and this new lot are no better. "Sort your bloody selves out" and be straight forward and honest for once, even if the news is bad , it's better that everyone knows NOW then to be let down at the last moment and find it difficult to arrange alternative racing for the season. So this brings us to number 4.....................

4. DEAR TVR, PLEASE, IN SIMPLY YES OR NO TERMS, ARE YOU BEHIND THE RE-LAUNCHING OF A TVR RACING SERIES AND SUPPORTING IT IN A PROPER FASHION OR NOT.

A statement to the motorsport press by the new owner or the Managing Director would be nice as this would put matters clearly on the record, and dear old John Reid would know if he's wasting his time or not.

Sorry John if this causes you a problem, but from what I have heard over the last few days, it needs saying, and as you have one hand tied behind your back by the powers that be, someone outside, who TVR can't effect and doesn't give a flying F**k what TVR think about him, has to make the point, that's me then

A grid is a load of empty slots on a track or in this case, on paper, a series is when these are spoken for. I see the possibility of many cars but also a load of unhappy, would be competitors desperatly looking in TVR's direction for support, formal news, and encouagement, for the cars on this grid, like the holograms they are, fade in and out of vision due to BAD RECEPTION.

I know I'm not part of the racing series or any team, but as an avid fan, regular attendee and supporter of the Tuscan Challenge that was, I would wholeheartedly agree with the above comment.

There are so many fans out there waiting for some news......

I am working on a project that will see 2 young drivers do some TVR Challenge races as well as their International programme. Can't say anymore than that!

I would also state that Mr Holden needs to change his attitude towards some people that have been longer around than him.

John Reid is doing a great job! A new car at a good price! An agreed series! A good tyre deal! Cheaper engine leases and people are still complaining!

I remember the first time we went to Croft and there was just a Double Decker Bus! Ben sorted out a parade into Darlington. Tuscans used to headline events and not support them!

Pauline,

"Hold on to your flags!"
