I really enjoy the Indycar, but I maintain that it's some of the tracks that create poor races.

St Louis almost isn't a short-track oval - it's a series of 4 fast left-handers.....if that makes sense smile

Tracks like Laguna, Indy (oval and GP) Barber and so on are great. Converted car parks and ovals like last weekend....less so.

Colton Herta hitting the armco at turn 1 at Portland in a Monaco Swimming pool exit style, however to hit the armco at turn 1 in Portland you have to put the car completely off track inside the kerb. Not F1 material.

They are all cutting that corner, it's the fastest line.

They are still keeping the left side tyres on the kerb he was well inside it.

Not all of them. They are taking the straightest line they think they can get away with.

Going by the usual shenanigans at T1 here in previous years I suspect two or three title contenders will have a very short race this evening.

Miracle! No issues in the first few laps.

What is McLaughlin on? Huge lead (in IndyCar road track terms) already.

It's never going to happen but I'd love to see Mclaughlin in F1.

So would I. Real talent, but where would he fit?

He’s really showing Grosjean up, who came in at the same time.

However, I think Grosjean has issues with the Andretti setup.

McLaughlin won’t get in to F1 though. Too high a risk.

Two Kiwis in the top three makes me very happy.

Both are class acts.

Newgarden stuck in qualifying, at the corkscrew, his rear tyres in the gravel, the nose is touching the track but his front tyres are in the air.

I've never actually watched indycar qualifying, but why is the finish line for quali before the last corner?

So they can pit straight away and not spend a full lap getting in the way of others.

Pit not put. smile

Ps. I wish F1 did that really.

I don't actually mind how soon the Indycar season is over, reminds me of the F1 seasons in the past with 16 races. F1 seems to drag on and on these days.

Dixon deliberately missing every apex and pulling away from Herta. Utterly bizarre.

I think Dixon might actually be a Jedi. I'd love to see Will Power win this thing - he is a strange and amusing man.
