Well during that race the wife and I said we would go next year. Not now, it's a farce of a race. Hopefully means we will get to Suzuka instead though in 2024
We still want to go biggrin

What a spectacle.

199 largely irrelevant laps.

And then just 1 more time around Indy.

Only in America.

At least they managed to finish it under race conditions.

Would love to go, but that was all a bit farcical at the end.

I'm assuming no rules were broken, (unlike F1 in AD 2021 though)?

Ericson should have just gunned it straight out the pits

Just imagine what it might have been like if Mateschitz had owned the Yas Marina circuit…

On a personal note, me and Miss Badger had tickets and accommodation for the 100th running of the Indy 500, but we conspired to conceive a small girl child and had to cancel. I've neve been back since, and we will in the future. I don't mind the ethos of finishing under green flag contiions after such an epic race. Congrats to Newgarden beer

Race control did the right thing.

Also shows why Abu Dhabi was the right decision; big races should never finish under yellow.

Ericsson very sore loser

AD was clearly absolutely the wrong decision because new rules were invented on the spot.

Just to clarify, did tonight's '500 end whilst following the rules correctly?

I think Ericsson is somewhat justified being p155ed off.

Can't we enjoy an event like Indy without idiots like you trying to wind people up.

Cautions breed cautions...

At least it's not the Daytona 500 (or Talladega) which has the 'Big One' when a crash wipes out half the field.

NASCAR also has the green-white-checker AKA overtime where there's a number of chances to get a clean finish within the last 2 laps.

Well that was the first indy 500 we've watched start to finish. Think we now understand what all the fuss is about. The atmosphere must have been amazing trackside.
Plan to go next year if we can.

Have too say I enjoyed that.

Even my other half, who doesn't see the point of 'going round in circles' (even though I tried to explain that Indy is an oval) was on the edge of her seat for the last 20 or so laps.

Me? Thought it was great entertainment.

Next - Le Mans.

Come on over! If you fly in to Indy the flight path usually takes you close to the track. You get a good view from the RH side and it gives you a great idea of the scale of the place. I flew back in from Atlanta last week on a bright sunny day and it was a glorious sight.

The atmosphere at the race is incredible as long as you don’t mind all the jingoism and religion. “Back home again in Indiana” hadn’t been the same since Jim Nabors died. You just need a plan for getting in and out because the traffic is a nightmare!
