Is anyone watching the weird Indycar race at the Thermal club? No points are on offer, just money. I don't really get the point, but hey it's some racing I guess.

It's a bad joke of an event, the track is potentially lethal.

Please expand on that.

It's just a club for rich people to track their cars isn't it? Doesn't seem to be much evidence of gravel traps, etc.

Weird format as well.

I watched about 15 minutes and gave up. The series is a farce compared to the separate constructor days. It's just poor.

I don't understand the final race (of only 20 minutes) having a 10 minute break in the middle. Strange one, plus you get more money winning the Indy 500, or even finishing in the top 3.

The series itself is fine, and produces some excellent racing

This event is a joke though

It’s a weird format and seems to be an odd cross between qualifying and racing.

It all smacks a bit of the owner of the track writing a big cheque to Indycar and the drivers to get the cars there and milk the associated credibility.

The 10 lap max is probably some limitation on the track licence.

Haha, this is so silly, Herta crawling around 10 seconds a lap slower.

Well that was the crappiest thing I've seen in a while. Let's not do that again.

The comms team were desperately trying to make it sound exciting. And it was anything but.

That was an absolute joke….. the first 10laps was a competition to see how slow you can go….and as Palou proved, what a waste of time. The low pace didn’t make that much of a tyre difference for Herta to capitalise on …. Stupid!

Indycar is a great series with close, often unpredictable, racing and some fine circuits.

But they let themselves down with amateur-hour stuff like today. frown

This. Usually great racing...

maybe saying it was an experiemnt which failed. But these things are worth trying every now and again, Remember the F1 quali changes which were dropped very quickly?

Still, back to a a "proper" race next time. And Palou was still hugely impressiuve. It was like he was in a Red Bull, not a standard chassis with stock engine. Maybe he will be partner Max next season
