Congrats to Taku.

I'm surprised they called the race. I don't think that would have been the case if there was a crowd.

Still doesn't diminish it as a great, smart drive. Very Marc Marquez-esque At the start I had an inkling he had a race winning car and just made sure he was with the lead pack and set to pull the pin for the last 50 laps/final stint.

Never liked how Sato was sometimes portrayed as the crazy guy in F1

Well here today he's shown the amazing Fred how its done

Big congrats!

A short 3 lap sprint would just cause another big crash, it's happened before.

But he does have a habit of making dumb moves - and I'm saying that as Taku fan since F3.

After he won Indy first time round he crashed trying to make a banzai pass-on-the-grass at Texas. Last year he blamed (unfairly, IMO) for causing a massive shunt at Pocono.

Just watched a full Indy for god knows how long, good race, shame we missed the last 5 laps but I reckon the result would have been the same. Forced wifey to watch, she put it quite well... "It's better than F1"

Funny how slow the F1 cars look at Barcelona after that.

Very nice win for Sato.

Always interesting to understand the race strategy and the cooperation at the front to save fuel. Very different to F1, but in these Covid days I watched the whole race for the first time in years.

As always, the pitstops with the smaller crew look like they take forever compared to F1. An F1 stop like the 1.9sec RB stop in Spain is a miracle to watch.

You guys reckon? I think an F1 car through MBC at Silverstone is was more impressive.

Would love to be in the front few rows at Indy on race day mind you.

We had tickets to the 100th running of the Indy 500 in what's called the penthouse stands I think at turn 1, but fate intervened as Mrs Badger revealed she was pregnant and baby was due about a week after the race. We had accommodation booked at a guest house in downtown Indianapolis and everything. Luckily everybody was understanding and kindly refunded us and wished us well. We were thinking about going there this year until bloody covid, I think fate is against us!

Enjoy the spectacle of Indy 500 , speeds are insane . Great for Sato although I'm certain he didn't want to win like that .

I really enjoyed it. As said, shame we were denied the last three laps.

Alonso seems to be fairly happy, he tweeted he got up to 15th then had a clutch failure but finished the race. Pity he wasn't more involved.

Would love to see him have another go in a competitive car, once he quits F1.
ummm he was in a competative car. his teammates were running up front most of the day.

clutch issue or not, he was just slow all week and was out performed by his inexperienced teammates...both of whom were rookies at Indy

Whilst I’m not an Alonso fan I was disappointed with his apparent lack of featuring in the race.

He never seemed ‘on it’ whilst the rookies gave their all. It was his third 500 so I would have expected him too be a bit further up the field.

At the end of the day he beaten by a Honda & one of the Chiltons!!!!

For a so called motivated race car driver I am surprised he has declared himself as happy with a rather lacklustre performance.

He was competitive until his turn 4 accident, and then he and the car struggled for pace once rebuilt.

With the benefit of the timing of pit stops and caution periods, a handful of Chevrolet powered cars made it near the front for a few laps at a time, however on outright pace they were never going to be a match for the Honda powered cars.

What do they squirt the cars with as they exit the pit?
