Does anyone know what time the actual race starts?
Need to sort out leaving work early enough to catch the start. Can’t be arsed with the pre-race build up. Just want the race.
TIA.

Weather forecast is good too!
I’ve never known a Memorial Day so cold since I moved to Indy. My wife wants the heating on! It is set fair although the high is only going to be 68 which is nuts for the end of May. When Franchitti won in 2012 it was 92 and we roasted in the stands. Colder weather should mean faster lap times though.

Depends if the extra drag from denser air is impactful enough to slow them down. Not sure on the turbo limit rules on these things but they should be able to hit peak power even with higher temps by running the turbine faster, and vice versa. You can still hit your boost and airflow limits no matter what, just run the turbine speed required to compress the more or less dense air to suit.Colder weather should mean faster lap times though.
The draft should be more powerful with denser colder air.

As long as it isn't as cold as 1992 - temperature of 48 with wind chill taking it down 28 (that's -2C). Drivers struggled to get heat into the tyres and the race was punctuated with multiple cautions. It was the closest finish in Indy history though.Colder weather should mean faster lap times though.

I know a lot of us Britishers hate it, but I love the overblown pomp and ceremony bks of the Indy pre race build up! My one guilty pleasure.
Now question is do I start on the wine now, or wait until the "gentlemen start your engines" command?
You are well out of date! drivers start your engines 😊Now question is do I start on the wine now, or wait until the "gentlemen start your engines" command?
