Bit of a letdown, very one line, very very hard to overtake, just like f1 really lol!
Can`t disagree ! St Petersburg isn`t a great track for racing. Only a couple of overtaking opportunities, but at least the split strategies and refuelling make it a bit more interesting.I enjoy Indycar, but can't help wonder how much better it would be with better circuits.
The ovals are exciting, particularly Indy of course and some of the road courses are good, such a Laguna and Road America.
But the likes of St Pete are pretty woeful. It reminds me of the dark days of F1 trying to get into the States and racing around car parks, etc.

For those that remember the old CART series in the 90's somehow that managed to create amazing racing on ovals and most street and road coarses, different chassis, engines etc but it somehow worked.
So much so that it became a better watch than F1 for me and several friends
I loved the CART and then Champcar series. Tony George has a lot to answer for. In Indycar's heyday it was as popular as NASCAR. Then the IRL split happened, Open Wheel racing in the US died a death and NASCAR got really good at promotion. So much so that it became a better watch than F1 for me and several friends

What do you mean by better circuits?
They've been to COTA and the racing was no better than F1.
Back racing at Watkins Glen for a number of years.
Barber Motorsports Park is a modern facility with elevation changes but isn't littered with asphalt run-off.
St Pete is no better or worse than Monaco.
It's just a circuit in the championship that ensures variety of track types - they can't all be ovals with 976 overtakes.
It's place on the circuit is validated by gate entry, tv viewing and organiser's fees (or however IndyCar works).
As others have said, the drivers seem to like it, it's clearly challenging to drive - there were considerably fewer yellows than average yesterday though.
Good to see McLaughlin win pretty convincingly (hey, as long as Power doesn't win, I'm good )

Wow!
McLaughlin did ALL the hard work.
Still McLaughlin is very impressive - can't help thinking he was wasted in V8 supercars all those years.
He didn't do much racing beyond karting. He was working at Stone Brothers before he raced for them.McLaughlin did ALL the hard work.

Jeremy Shaw must be eating his hat for dinner. He was not impressed with him at all and thought Scott made a mockery of the US open wheel ladder.
