Spa 6 Hours 2015
Discussion
A well deserved P7 for the gorgeous Aston Martin DB4 GT DP214 project car (replica).
Lovely Morgan SLR resting.
Morgan SLR coming for a drivers change.
One of three 1964 Sunbeam Tiger Le Mans Coupes: 260 Ford V8.
Morgan looks slow but goes like stink.
Lotus Elan coming in: tiny as they are - almost too small to fit a human being - with Lotus Cortina power they are seriously quick at Spa: 3:02 laps!
Big Healey: 260 brake OHV fire spitting straight six.
The ever comic looking TVR Griffith.
Jaguar E-type Low Drag Coupe.
Next: ready for more Jaguar?
Big cats:
Quick E-type had to retire 10 mins before finish ;(
The reverend had to retire his Light Weight Jaguar E-type.

Chris Harris having a good time.

Super quick Chris Clark / John Clark E-type (2:58) had some issues: P74.

Chris Harris locking up. Raw!
P5 Jon Minshaw E-type: 2:53!
More Jaguar.

More Jaguar.
Jaguar Low Drag Coupe: inbourd vid shows Chris Harris accelerating hard from Bus Stop (200 kmh), braking fiercly to point the E into La Source, let her roll (70 kmh) and stamp the six down to the straight upwards to attack Eau Rouge.
Smoke!
Stunning clean Low Drag Coupe ready to roll.
TUF4 - ex-John Minshaw car. Chassis 879611, specs say it's a 1999 rebuilt and modified car, app K: 925kgs, 360bhp-320ft lbs torque all aluminium Crosthwaite and Gardiner engine. Many historic wins which include the 2002 and 2008 Spa Six Hours.
3 minute Jaguar E-type.
Last of the Chris Harris action shots:

Bizzarrini yum:
For me the Bizza is the ultimate GT: epic looks, thundering (327 Chevy V8) performance and legend aura.
That is just... just... just...
AC Cobra Daytona Coupe: there's something wrong... as it seems.
It's the silhouette I like best on this car.
Next: Aston, TVR an ... a Gilbern at La Source.

This replica is currently owned by Wolfgang Friedrichs (who also owns DP212). Great Spa 6 legacy: 2 overall second places (2004 & 2006) and an overall victory in 2005.
2015 was a good year: P7 and under 3 mins laps.
Specs: based on a DB4GT chassis, 989 kgs, 3.8 litre straight six, 314 ps on Weber 50 DCOs, 4 speed, 175 mph, epic road presence.
Next: more paddock strolling.
I'm a sucker for these DB2/3 straight six Astons. They're like naughty Derby Bentleys grown up.
Ginetta amongst Mini Coopers.
I guess this is a Lotus Ford Cortina in an Elan.
Alfa Romeo Giulia. Basically a Cortina rival. Ford needed a special Lotus version of the Cortina to be competitive in racing. AR badged a Ti on the back and gave it a sports striping. The Nord dohc was already fit for the tracks.
Ohc straight six Datsun 240Z unit.
Up next: Lotus, Morgan and Gilbern in action.
Baby Bertha up for a run.
Here's more on the car, on PH: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=102...
Beighton Team Tiger Lola T70 Mk3B
Belgium Lola coasting through La Source.
Voyazides / Hadfield number one - but not so lucky and they ended at the end of the field.
Next: more Sports Cars.
Late 70s / early 80s DFV powered F1 look so good.
Back in the day Clay was a poster on my wall.
Classic JPS livery.
More old skool smoking: Gitanes was my brand when it was still allowed.
I'm not an expert on early 60s F1 but how fragile does this Lotus look?
Soundpr oof! Two litre four screamer.
Next: Porsche and night shots.
Ferrari monoposto magic.
That must be the Jano V6, later enlarged and used in the Fiat Dino and Dino 246.
Imagine sitting there, fondling the stick and keeping the 6 on the boil with your right feet while waiting to rip the skies with a burst of raw decibels in a hot lap around Spa.
Resting.
The 30s to early 60s racing cars (not sports cars) are the best, they really are. Originallity in design and approach made unique characters to love and enjoy. I can only hope they will be enjoyed and campaigned at future events.
Next: 1950s Maserati entries.
