Nurburgring Truck GP - anyone been?

I hope this is the best place for this...

Myself and a mate are planning on heading over for this in July. We are intending on camping at the track to enjoy the atmosphere (and beer). Looking at the website for it, it seems fairly self explanatory, there's still a few things we're wondering though.
The campsite page mentions a deposit for refrigerators, do they rent you one or is it if you bring one? Also, I guess the campsite would be a fairly laid back atmosphere with good facilities? Anything else we should know?
Next, the tickets. There's various options, depending on grandstand access, what's the viewing like outside the stands? Can you get to the first corner complex without being in one?
Finally, how easy (or possible) is it to gain access to the Nordschleife to watch some cars go round? I'm guessing any 'decent' corners are quite a trek from the GP track (at least from my limited Forza experience ).
If there's anything else useful anyone else can add then feel free!

Last time I was at the Ring was in 1999 for the F1 GP but I doubt much has changed regarding viewing.

Unlike British Tracks you can walk round the Ring without buying a ticket but in most cases the security fences are covered with tarpaulin so no looking in. When you buy a Tribune ticket you get access to that area of the track only.

The only 'general access ticket' view area was on the hill on the Nordschleife that overlooks the corner after the chichane prior to the pit entrance.

The Nordschleife is usually closed when the GP track is in use for events.

Huge camping areas in the woods / fields opposite the main road past the circuit however we camped in the circuit car park not far from the main road.

Is the Truck GP a big event in Germany?? I doubt the crowd is anywhere near as big as F1 or DTM so grandstand seats maybe free or roaming as they would be at a BTCC event in the UK.

Faclities wise I can't remember tbh.

Other than the GP, my only other experience of the ring has been the 24hrs. At this if you have a general admission ticket you can access all areas stands paddock nordschleife etc. If you don't hold a ticket the nordschleife is the only part you can access. So in summary, a general access ticket should get you access all areas.

Cheers folks, we've decided to play it safe and get the 'Gold' tickets, seems to get access to everywhere except the Mercedes stand.

I was there last year that weekend, it's mega mega busy! If not on par with the F1 (which I've done too) weekend the sheer number of big rigs about the place make it seem that way. Certainly accommodation was harder to come by that week. If you want to view the north loop, there are plenty of viewing places within a short hike, particularly hochiechen where there is often some "action" or simply the Devils Diner if you just want to ogle some nice cars.

Although busy, I don't remember the roads being Rediculous like they can be of a bank holiday weekend so you could easily drive the short distance to brunchen to see the latest unfal YouTube star.

It is a typically monumental German piss up type of affair which was perhaps the reason the roads were quieter-they were all pissed! We were there just lapping the north loop as usual and one of them attempted to drive an old tractor through the barriers and into the track.

Remember, Americana is still a huge thing over there so expect Stetsons, cowboy boots and airbrushed cabs depicting large breasted women and wolves.

Great firework display at midnight on Saturday and very much a carnival atmosphere, though very rowdy late at night.

You'll have a whale of a time.
