Yeah, o.s front wheel was flapping about before he hit the barrier.
It looked like something did break, the front right was steering towards the barrier.

I think Welch broke a toe-link or trackrod end on the right front over the kerb rather than a puncture to cause the crash.
They push their luck with the amount of thread engagement on their bottom arms to get more camber gain so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the cause. Ask me how I know.

Was at the race today, fantastic day of racing! Shame about the Goff Sheddon incident but that's racing!

Sadly those shorts perished a while back when I was climbing over the beam for the electric gates at my girlfriend's yard... I almost had to drive the horse box the last 200 yards in for her as she was crying with laughter! fking bks to belt line they split, while I was waddling over an invisible obstacle!!

Incidentally, if you listen very carefully to the footage you can hear me screaming 'st st st' all the way into the trees, so I have the claim to fame of swearing on national television hehe

Whilst I thought for many many years that the only thing champion about matt neal and his dad was his unsurpassed level of bellendery at least now he is admitting it in public.

progress of sorts i'm sure

Great day, managed to avoid getting burnt to a crisp and got out the car park in 5 mins after a light jog back to the car from the pit straight.

Neal is an absolute bellend, not only does he cause chaos he has the cheek to mouth off after causing a huge collision.

As spectacular as it is, and I think tyres should wear to reward drivers that drive smoothly, they really need to make a tyre for hot days at Thruxton. That said some of the drivers were really hammering the kerbs.

Nice pics again, I think this is easily the best looking car on the grid. I really struggle taking pictures of it though

Decreasing the number of laps from 16 to 12 is a 25% reduction (pedantry matters).

It was a cracking day out at Thruxton yesterday. Dan Welch was unlucky in the last race. I think he said afterwards that the mechanical breakage was a £3 bolt. In my opinion, the best race at yesterday's meeting was the Ginetta Juniors, with Middleton & Tregurther constantly duelling for the lead.

Ah yes, you are correct. Apologies! It should be sorted now.

Same here! Really enjoyed it all, but the Ginetta races were awesome.

Lots of crashes and action yesterday... and unfortunately a fair amount of sunburn, too!

I thought that was going to be a video of the chap yesterday in the 'slightly odd attire' and no sun cream. Did anyone else spot that?

Could you not have linked this thread to the existing thread with 90 posts which has been running all weeekend?? Bit disrespectful to the users on that thread to disregard what they posted (seems to be a common theme with motorsport front page articles, its not as if there are hundreds of threads running in the motorsport section that you have to filter through, there is always 1 on topic BTCC thread running).

Ask nicely and we could do just that! wink

In all seriousness it's a totally valid point but I'll comment in that thread and check the temperature there as once it's done it's done and consensus may be that it's best kept within the 'specialist' arena rather than out in the wilds of General Gassing, via the homepage.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention though, entirely valid and it's in everyone's interests to make noise about BTCC on PH.

Cheers,

Dan

...was made firmly but fairly in the parallel conversation thread off the homepage story. I said in response I'd test the temperature among PH BTCC enthusiasts for merging the thread and linking this one into the one off the back of the news story but once done it's done. Personally if there's a big thread on the race going on within PH I think it would be great to have it linked from the homepage as a reflection of the interest in the race but I'll see what you think before doing so. Going forward we could do this as a matter of course as we'll be reporting in this style from each round.

Cheers!

Dan

Not a bad idea, actually. Even better, you might be able to pick up some of the comments from users and incorporate them into the article... perhaps?

Didn't want to talk about the Church incident until after this weekend, but did you get to see if they had made any improvements to the safety the corner?
