There was some crashing and banging and you got hauled up in front of the stewards and penalised - yes or no?
There was no crashing and bashing on my part. I leaned on another car, there would have been no damage, clearly that was still too BTCC for the Ginetta Clark, I accepted that and didn't do it again. You've just stated categorically that it was malicious on my part when it most certainly was not.I've complained about worse things done to me this year to be told 'that's BTCC'.
I can see this incident from all sides. From Welch's perspective, he has the inside for the corner, anyone on the outside be damned, I go where I want. Wookie, you were challenging round the outside, not level, but 2/3 alongside and could have reasonably expected some racing room. Its a very wide straight and the whole thing was all a bit unnecessary.
Personally I thought it was a racing incident, with an expensive and car battering outcome that obviously swayed the stewards ruling, which was then reduced (should have been recinded) on a Wookie appeal.

If he had "no alternative" then how was it a tactical decision?
You are supposed to leave sufficient room for your competitors to race, plus it is entirely possible to overtake somebody without punting them off the circuit.
Welch could have moved over and still maintained position, without causing a massive accident and writing his own car off...
As far as I can see from the youtube clip, Welch is on the inside from the moment he appears on camera. The Audi is on the outside. You are supposed to leave sufficient room for your competitors to race, plus it is entirely possible to overtake somebody without punting them off the circuit.

Welch takes the normal racing line, pretty much exactly the same line as those in front. On the exit of the corner, Welch is still maintaining his line with the Audi still chancing his arm on the outside and nowhere near in a position to overtake unless Welch lifted off. Its a race, so you try not to lift off, especially when the other car is in,or about to be in, an untenable position.
Perfectly fair as far as I can see, what did the Audi think was going to happen.
You, and some other folk have made your position clear, but I think you are completely wrong and have unrealistic expectations of the outcome.

PMR are in the wars this year because both of their drivers are a liability. Last year they have Newsham and Cook, how many big shunts then?
Not sure if it's just me but there's ALWAYS someone walking out with a Chevrolet bumper under their arm whenever I go to a meeting, and even the traders have an abundance of PMR broken bits.

Can't even get around the Goodwood hill without crashing.
How did Fletcher get his racing licence? did he find it in a Christmas cracker? Not sure if it's just me but there's ALWAYS someone walking out with a Chevrolet bumper under their arm whenever I go to a meeting, and even the traders have an abundance of PMR broken bits.

Lets be honest here and who considers BTCC to be "motorsport" rather than just a TV show? All we need now is a veiewer phone-in like X factor to award the points and any reprimands. We can simply change the name to "BTCC Strictly Go Figure!" Gow had better get his finger out and sort this before it becomes more of a charicature than it is already.Janesy B said:
There's another vid on youtube which clearly shows Welch pushing Ollie off because he failed to see him on the outside throughout the whole corner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8pMQyF4rAc&t=...
You know what from watching that. I think it's unfortunate accident due to hard racing. Quite simply 2-1 doesn't go, no one gave in and they shunted. but what I don't under stand is what the hell is welch doing on the grid if he can't afford to re-shell his car. At that level you really do need to expect this sort of thing to happen. One of the reason I don't race my self is I can't afford a total loss of a car in say locost or something. If you can't be 100% committed to something I see very little point in doing it. Thats my take anyway... The other thing I can't work out is the engine welch developed or didn't at the end of the grid they are at wouldn't using that money to go testing with a fair few sets of tyres wouldn't of given a fair greater return for the amount of money they spent. never underestimate what pounding around all day does for a driver also you can tweak and try things set-up wise you would never try at a race weekend.

Oh he can very much afford to re-shell the car - budget is not a problem. The team are just taking the opportunity to rinse some money out of his loyal supporters. Nice. the crowdfunding is not going too well, seems to have lost all momentum as it was a similar amount last week. Im sure the website will scalp a couple of % off the amount raised too.
