But the Wing is miles away from this hotel?

The hotel will also feature a roof terrace with views of the track, a restaurant and a coffee shop, and guests will be able to access the events and exhibitions at the Silverstone Wing Conference Centre via a cross-circuit footbridge, as well as taking advantage of hospitality events at the hotel on race days.

I spend 4 days there every year at the Classic and whilst the sense of heritage and occasion is great the fact remains that it has become a simply rubbish circuit at which to watch racing cars . The only place I enjoy now is Farm/ Village and Luffield is so - so.
I have seen the circuit change immensely since I first went in 1971 - and , not rose tinted either , but the original circuit was simple and brilliant , with Woodcote and Club being amazing places to watch a GP car at full song . You stood so much closer to the track, which may have been dangerous but was pretty spine tingling. As was Bridge - few better places to sense the sheer violent speed and noise of an F1 car , the differences in car and the sheer artistry of an Alonso or a Hamilton .
But now..well it sure isn't Cadwell is it?
I also attended my first Silverstone race in 1971 , it was still owned by the MOD then and still on the reserve list of airfields . It started my active involvement in motorsport which is still ticking along slowly 47 years later .I have seen the circuit change immensely since I first went in 1971 - and , not rose tinted either , but the original circuit was simple and brilliant , with Woodcote and Club being amazing places to watch a GP car at full song . Those that think it's flat these days would be bewildered by how much flatter and basic it was back then .
Watching at Woodcote back in the day as the fast stuff went through at 130+ was eye opening to this teenage boy .
Grass runoffs and earth banks back then , no fireproof overalls for us marshalls then just a few of us in the silver spaceman suits with the beehive helmets.
