Meek crashed off stage into a car park, which he drove through and back on stage.

Do we think he'll keep the win? Looked a bit of a dangerous manoeuvre really, could've seen spectators squished quite easily.

I was thinking that watching meeke fills me with dread. And lo and behold. Glad it was at the end and he won!

bit like Kubica, fast but liable to bin it anytime

I've seen the results of Meeke on a shakedown @ Ypres in the Peugeot ERC days...
tyre warming pre run, usual on/off side to side, handbrake turns etc whilst the public are walking in area.
French guy's car parked on grass verge well off road and comes back to find DS door caved in. Meeke hit it and basically drove off. told the guy who did it, didn't believe us but some one had footage so off he goes to Peugeot non too happy.
Piss poor TBH from a supposedly professional setup

Incredible finish to the rally!! We were watching on wrc+ heading down the m5 back from Epynt, and couldn't believe what we were seeing! Crazy for Kris to be pushing that hard with such a big lead!!

woohoo Great to see such a detailed report on the BBC. Another great rally, 3 events, 3 winners in 3 different cars. 2017 really is looking good, and cars are fantastic. While the WRC has some wobbles, such as the strange situation after Thursday's stages overall it really is heading in the right direction.

The end to the event really was heart in mouth, Meeke was so fortunate not to roll or hit the car parked against the hedge. Quite why cars were parked on the outside of a fast corner is something the WRC organisers should look closely at. Once in the car park, I don't think Meeke did anything dangerous, he appears a bit disorientated, and just went the wrong way.

Overall another great event, can't wait for the next one. biggrin

You seem to have stumbled into the rallying thread, the one for roundy roundy racing is elsewhere.

I know exactly where I am thanks, as you'd know if you'd followed these annual threads for any time.

Rallying is under a lot of scrutiny right now. This year is shaping up to be a classic, but with a spectator death already and FIA concerns about speeds alongside some scary pics on twitter regarding spectator control in Mexico then Meeke keeping his foot down in a spectator car park might be seen as a problem.

He's a lucky lad to get back on road this time, as a sport we're lucky he didn't take out someone who wasn't expecting a rally car to come at them from behind a parked car.

I've just seen the onboard.... Dear God haha.

He doesn't listen to the note, you can hear Paul Nagle saying "5 right over crest bump, be neat this time Kris"...followed by "Oh Jesus".

I'd say he would have gotten some bking off Nagle if they didn't recover from that!

A must watch:

It gets more extraordinary every time you see it. Paul Nagle is priceless. "I told you to..." then gets back to his notes!

It was a Mitsubishi Colt, which we told was on it's last event before being put up for sale.

It wasn't a bad days rallying, but without the tarmac championship it just wasn't the same really, with far less entries and not quite the same kind of pace.

It was... a bit crap to be honest.

The start position was moved too close to the jump so there was no action to be had there on SS1/3/5, speccy area was further back than normal as well. Pace was low with a lot of early lifting compared to what I'm used to...

Still I'm putting up a compilation that I'll share with you guys anyway. No footage of the crash, they got passed me just fine!

I came across a car for sale on Friday last, and thought to myself "wow, that looks interesting, it's a Colt?!" It was the Crowley Colt, few days later I see the name Crowley pop up on facebook having had a big off and surely enough it was the same car!

Well when I say it was a Colt, it's part that, part Evo and a few other bits! Incredible that the crew are ok though, given the state of the car yikes

Colt, Proton, evo...... all tend to get a bit mixed up in the Rallying world, all the bits are interchangeable. smile
