I didn't see a round specific thread yet, please delete if I've gone mad.

I'll be going Sunday, taking the little one (9 months old) for her first motor racing experience!

So who do we think will be kicking bottom on Sunday? Can't help feeling Ingram is super quick round Brands with no weight on and a nice spanky new Avensis.

Well, Howard and Scott are not participating this year, so who knows?! I'll go for a Shredded Wheat car that isn't Jackson.

Most of the cars look really great this year, also multiple cars in the same team are mostly the same livery, give or take a couple of sponsors. Looks so much better than the scattergun liveries of a few years ago. Really excited for this season, there could be 10 drivers in with a chance of the title.

Not familiar with this seasons driver/team arrangement but it's my favourite race series and I can't wait!

We're heading down there on Sunday with the kids. They're rather excited because I've borrowed a couple of my bosses paddock passes so they can have a proper look at the cars!

I reckon Turkington is going to win one, probably Sheddon and possibly Ingram.

I think the Subaru's won't be as quick as the BMWs, the Vauxhalls will be nowhere and BTC Norlin will surprise everyone and get into the top 10.

Of course I could be wrong about the above but I cant wait to see what happens smile

I didn't think paddock passes were needed any more .

Outer paddock is usually open to all and I assume there will be a pit walkabout on Sunday for

autographs n stuff.

Brands tends to be pass only for the paddock with it being such a small site.

I usually just call someone in the paddock at Brands to come and get me but as we've got the kids this weekend I thought I better borrow some passes.

I see he got lucky with a fast lap just before rain and a red flag.

Well with a mixed up grid it should be a "busy" race 1!

So tempted to go tomorrow, even if I should be saving...

I'm sticking with my prediction of Colin getting a win ,as he starts on P5 albeit both works Honda on row 2.

Not necessarily in first race.

Moffat wants BTCC to look into wheel problems after FP1 detachment:

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/128743

This one is not going to go away.

These new RML hubs and securing nuts have been failing over the past few weeks at pre-season testing. "The alterations to the processes" that Gow refers to are quite simply, "tighten them up more"! All the teams have received emails telling them to tighten the wheel nuts (one per corner) more than previously specified. It didn't work, wheels were still coming off. So a few days later, another email and a revised process: "tighten them up more". Their latest knee-jerk reaction is advising to tighten up to 550 or 575 Nm or some similar figure. Have the components been fully tested to destruction many times before being certified safe for production I wonder? Have they been re-tested now with these super-high torque figures? Are the threads on both the hubs and the nuts going to withstand these torque figures? Under such torque, is the threaded hub section going to stretch and then break? Thus higher torque figures making things worse?

No real answers from either RML or TOCA.

Everyone is just waiting for a wheel to come off at speed and no one wants to think of the consequences.

Luckily today, Aiden Moffat was just warming up his tyres and going fairly slowly into a bend.

As I said, this one is not going to go away, although RML and Alan Gow obviously want it to.

That would be Dave Newsham, the reason for one of the red flags in quali.

I'm fairness to them, Goff was consistently quick in fp2, Jeff's lap was pretty damn good considering everyone was on slicks and it was already raining when he posted the time.

It should be the quickest fwd car on the grid so we'll see, it'd be nice to see someone else do well other than BMW or actual Honda!
