I had the same thought when I saw him walking up.
Not for Billy the sort of courageous slow "I *will* walk up to the stage" struggle that might be more typical of such a scene. Instead Billy simply strolls up confidently like nothing was wrong.

I wouldn't be able to make that walk so confidently, in front of an audience and live tv cameras, even with both my legs intact.
I was out last night so didn't see this and the posts on here have just caused me to find it to view on line. What a remarkable person he is, the way he spoke so confidently an eloquently at just 19 was exemplary. I was looking forward to hearing the rest of his speech but the YouTube clip I watched cut him off. I then discovered it wasn't a YouTube edit but the BBC actually cut him off! How utterly disgraceful - words fail me about that corporation. mad

They did give him a chance to finish the speech later on.
Ah right, thanks. That wasn't made clear by the red-tops. I'll have to see if I can find it on YouTube.

p.s. also, pleased to see Lewis Hamilton attending when his detractors said he wouldn't turn up.

Shows that public pressure on Twitter during a live event (using the SPOTY hashtag) worked in this case as you could see that they'd been embarrassed into going back to him later on after they cut him off (and his mic too i noticed) early. I thought it was quite funny when they asked him what he wanted to say and he just kept it short & sweet hehe As if to say "you could have just let me say this earlier on and it would have actually been quicker than this segment" hehe

I know they wan't to try to run to time and avoid overruns, but FFS they were still only 5 minutes over by the end of the show - god forbid that Apprentice viewers would have to wait 5 minutes later because it overran hehe

Fantastic stuff! smile

This level of progress, together with his maturity, really top notch - he's a bit of a breath of fresh air on C4 F1 highlights coverage, too.

(I remember his recent post-race interview with Lewis Hamilton. Recall in the Billy Whizz documentary that Lewis made an effort to visit his testing, and it was really cool to see how that interaction lead to a very relaxed Billy interviewing Lewis after a GP win.)

Nice one Billy & masses & masses of respect.
My feeling is that you will always stay grounded & avoid becoming a 'celebrity' or part-time male model.
And leave diamond ear studs to others.
