Not massively. BTCC are c.350bhp (some more than others after boost allowance..) and TCR are around 300bhp.
TCR is maximum 350bhp and 420nm.

Don't think we have seen a BTCC vs TCR run yet but, BTCC cars are more "Built" TCR cars are essentially road going chassis with modification.

The Astra was running around 390 BHP in Germany, most TCR cars are 350 + The difference will be in the weight as I suspect that the BOP base weight of 1285 kgs may be more than a BTCC car. I do not think that the cars are massively slower than the BTCC cars. We will know for sure next year.

The weight is pretty similar to the BTCC car then, BTCC cars aren't the lightest of things.

Like I said it will be interesting to see if it takes off in the UK and what sort of grids they actually get. I do think the lack of TV coverage might be an issue that holds it back.

It's very popular across the globe. The formula works. Given the limited costs involved, it should attract plenty of competitors.

I imagine, as with many UK series, it exists for the competitors first and spectators are a bonus.

Carl Swift intends to run in the championship, using a Seat Leon.

Decent driver; previously raced Brisca F1, 750MC Stock Hatch and Civic Cup.

We'll all is not well brisky have sold their golf and are now running the 2 Passat with team hard in the btcc. There are only 2 confirmed entries as of present and talk of it being cancelled. I'm guessing the upcoming autosport show will either make or break the series before it even started.

I can't imagine building a competitive TCR car would be cheap?

I have heard mutterings of extortionate entry fees that is putting people off, as the series is completely unknown in the U.K. at this stage. Surely better to build the profile before asking top money!

They already exist though. You just buy them from the manufacturer no building required.

Dan
Quick google search comes up with £17k for late entry or 14k for advanced entry ..either way circa 2-2.5k per meeting.

Not sure how this stacks up with other formula of the same level

VW Cup is less than half that.

Clio cup is slightly more but has all the added advantages of the TOCA package to help with sponsorship.

Ginetta GT4 Supercup is pretty much the same too.

From a fb group the owner of brisky motorsport stated too team charging 180k for a drive that's not far of btcc budgets for only half the races and no to little tv coverage.

This series is not going to happen in the UK for 2018. Let's open a book.

So the price on the VW motorsport site for the Golf TCR with sequential gearbox is £110k euros + VAT. Note this is the basic car, various other packs and options are mentioned.

I thought a BTCC budget started at £300k?

Several available used on RCD web site from €60-80k. I would guess that running costs are cheaper than British GT3 but not sure about a GT4 car.
