BTCC 2018 silly season
Discussion
Announcement at 12 today, apparently by a car driven by a scot last year so a Merc, a Civic or a Focus.
Matt Neal said something about an announcement tomorrow about a driver too.
So... realistically it’s going to be a Merc announcement.
Unless it’s a Motorbase announcement which would answer the Honda question too.

Looking at he official btcc twitter and Matt Salisbury earlier in the week, both Team Parker and Stephen Jelley are making announcements on Monday... should be pretty obvious that he’ll be back in their car, just awaiting confirmation on what car I suppose.
Following on from this, Parker have replied to the question of ‘is it a new car’ with ‘sure is new to us’ which is interesting. That indicates is not a Focus (although I suppose it could be, just not the same one as last year, could even just have the new RS bodywork I suppose and a bit of artistic license)There’s been a lot of chatter about a 4th BMW but I reckon it’ll be a Subaru, with the BMR TBL going to Ciceley.

Not sure what you mean, do you mean DB waited till the TDH drive was taken then gave MJ the boot? Sounds unlikely.
Looking at the timings of it all, this is exactly how it seems to me.It’d be interesting to know exactly what time on Wednesday Mat’s contract was terminated and what time the Cammish contract was finalised (I presume this was also on Wednesday as Matt Neal tweeted about having ‘news tomorrow’ which was Thursday) then you’d have the answer!

Eurotech have switched to the Neil Brown Engineering Honda engine.
We glossed over this but it’s significant news. That engine, coupled with an injection of cash from Wix plus the fact that they can see what changes Dynamics made in 2017 by looking at Simpson’s car and apply it to the other two means they have to be a strong contender, at least with Goff if not the other two.
I expect big things this year.
Well, it seems as if Dynamics will using a new shape Civic, with a Neil Brown built Honda engine, Eurotech are using the previous generation Civic again but moving to the (same) Neil Brown built Honda engine, Norlin are using last year's Dynamics cars presumably with Swindon TOCA engines, although I don't think that's been confirmed.
Basically, Eurotech are running the same combo Dynamics did last year and Norlin are running what Eurotech did last year.
All 7 cars were built by Dynamics though.
No idea what it'll do to boost compensation numbers, it's not as if Dynamics were loads quicker all year than everyone else so it probably won't make too much difference.

The spare car is very old spec though so would need updating heavily
