Ollie Jackson and newbie Sam Smelt confirmed for AMD in the Audis.
No great surprise I know... Shaun did sort of give it away with last week's photo of the shell with my number still on the roof! hehe

Blimey Wookie...........A confirmed seat before Autosport International never mind BTCC Media Day!! Surely the earliest you've ever known what you're racing before the season starts?

Good luck for the next year as always BTW.

Thanks chaps!

Believe it or not we actually did the deal ages ago, Shaun wanted to announce it as a full team! Having some preseason testing and some proactive car development is definitely a step forward for us!!

Fingers crossed we'll be making more of a step than others and we'll get some good results.

Well done Ollie, here's hoping you have better luck this year...!

Out of interest, what was getting done to the shells? Were they stripped chemically or with abrasives, metalwork true'd, welds DPI'd, modifications made, etc.? Or was it a simple cosmetic refresh?

I'm fascinated by the cars but sadly there seems very little out there covering what actually goes into making, running, maintaining and developing one.

Thanks,
Sam

They're keeping very quiet about no official Dunlop / BTCC stand at this year's show.

Cheers! Last year wasn’t so bad it just took us a while to get used to the RML kit as it was our first year! Things are looking promising so far, it just depends on everyone else’s progress really

I might be wrong but from my understanding they weren’t chemically stripped or anything like that, just closely inspected, cosmetically repaired, modifications made and checked for true

That's great news Ollie thumbup You at ASI on Thursday?

In reply to prep on the bodyshells - generally they're only dipped if it's a second hand road car being converted.
Most of the teams will build a new shell every few years (if not every year). When re-freshing 'between seasons unless there's some pretty massive repairs they'll be 'over-painted'.

Wow, very interesting, I had no idea.

Having familiarised myself with the touring car register (link below), this sort of information does not seem to be captured?

http://www.touringcarregister.com/NGTC/

Perhaps the build number and date relates to something that is carried over between re-shells? I've certainly been confused as to how the Civic Tourers seemed to be both previously and subsequently civic hatchbacks with the same build/chassis number!

This is the kind of detail I love so thanks for your reply also.

Yeah that was my understanding too, have to say I didn’t realise other teams were building them into new shells regularly! Mines still the same from when Robb Holland had it as far as I’m aware, apart from some planned (and other unplanned) modifications hehe

Dave Newsham has announced his retirement from the BTCC. Shame, always liked him. Hopefully we'll see his son in a touring car before too long.

I've just seen that on touring car times, i'm disappointed as i had hoped in the Civic he would have been in the top 10 regularly

The Civic Tourer’s aren’t an error, they were the same cars. Dynamics stuck a different roof, 3/4 panels, boot etc onto a hatchback. Apparently wasn’t that tricky to do, with how shells mount to the NGTC subframes and roll cage.

Unsurprising update from WSR and awesome news from Eurotech, wonder who their last driver will be if they're running three cars.

I would think the last Eurotech car (if they are running three) would be Brett Smith as the Mini drives are all available from them.

That's amazing. Must be perspective that makes it look like it has a longer wheelbase then. Would love to see pictures of this work!
