Is it just me or is all this narrow street stuff just not nearly as good on nearly all levels as a proper circuit?
This circuit in particular just looks like it is asking for trouble.

what isn't a "proper circuit" about it? It knocks "proper circuit" racing into a cocked hat. There is nothing like getting that close to the action, something that you simply do not get on a short circuit. Why do say it is asking for trouble? It should be celebrated rather than shunned or condoned. In this day of health and safety, real road racing should be applauded. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=734&am...

I know Dan and have raced with him on many occasions. Nobody forces us to do the sport we love. Losing him is tragic, but we are all aware of the risks we take and wouldn't change it. It may seem like a bizarre way to look at it, but until you have competed in such a sport, you really can't comprehend it. As I have said before, in this day and age, where kids aren't allowed to play conkers in school; sports days are frowned upon so that no child feels they have lost; driverless cars are on the horizon, something as wonderful as Macau should be celebrated.
Whilst I said trouble I was not really meaning it in the safety way.
It was more a comment on how narrow it is - it is almost too narrow for two cars to be side by side.
In many cases this leads to very dull racing with only one racing line and little room for multiple lines, variation, uncertainty & overtaking. And hence something worth watching.
This race certainly looked a lot less exciting & more processional than a round of BTCC at any number of open UK circuits. And then they had a big traffic jam.
EDIT - I posted the above before I read about Dan. Very sad.

Hmm ...Silverstone or Rockingham BTCC or F3 or GT at Macau ?Dunno about you but I'd be heading East -a dn not to Snetterton either ...Cadwell's narrow too - and I think it's still the UK's best circuit . I've been there a few times and it's great for atmosphere.
But there is a lot of waiting around while the various messes are cleaned up, and you couldn't pay me enough to get on a motorbike there.
Never been but I'm not a fan of watching it live because half the airtime seems to be cleanup. But there is a lot of waiting around while the various messes are cleaned up, and you couldn't pay me enough to get on a motorbike there.
Not sure of the validity of a GT race win when a forklift and a flatbed are technically running 5th and 6th.
OP genuine question, have you only just discovered Macau this weekend? It’s been raced on for years, everyone knows the score with the track and that’s why they go and race there. For the challenge. There was more action in the last lap of the F3 race alone than most of the F1 season combined this year

The stupid thing about Macau is that the most suitable thing to race there is motorcycles as it is so narrow.
Having F3 and touring cars there is fine as they are a little slower
But having GT's thee is plainly ridiculous.
Like having f1 round Cadwell or WEC round Olivers Mount

To be fair, the cars running in the first 4 positions were running 1, 2, 3 and 5 pre-crash. It's not like that Aussie guy who won the speed skating when everyone fell over in both his semi final and again in the final. Not sure of the validity of a GT race win when a forklift and a flatbed are technically running 5th and 6th.
