Ostberg did indeed pay for his drive and has been rumoured to do a few more events this year, including Gb.

Well we had a most enjoyable day out on Crychan for the Rallynuts Stages. Friendly marshals who let you pick your own spot (Within reason!), sunny weather and great pace throughout the Btrda field.

Glad to hear the crew of a rather squashed Evo were ok after dropping 10-20ft down a ravine on the 1st stage.

In the afternoon an Impreza went off a corner after us after suffering a puncture. Would have been a horror accident if it had been where we were yikes Again crew ok.

Was severely tempted to go, but a 3 hour plus drive meant getting up at silly o'clock.....And the last time I went to Crychan for this event, I was stuck in the same place all day. Fortunately, they seem to be a bit more relaxed about this nowadays; provided you're sensible.

Need some rallying action, as I haven't been out this year.

It was my first event since the Wyedean, not sure when my next will be.

We left home at 5am, had a round trip of 351 miles (With slight detour over the A4069) and got home at 9.30pm! The crazy things we do to watch cars goes past laugh

If you look at Meeke's reaction pretty much as they're going off it's clear that it was a wrong call, I actually though he called it as a right rather than a left as you can hear Meeke say "Right?" in a sort of WTF tone.
I've not rewound it and listened to it again, but on the couple of occasions I saw/heard the clip,I thought Meeke said "Arrgh, Paul" in a WTF tone rather than "Right". After the crash, I thought he repeated "Five left, you said five left"
No matter, as this was Corsica, they were incredibly lucky to walk away unscathed, as was JML or more specifically his navigator...

The sad thing is, that a bit Rob The Kube, Kris has what it takes, the raw speed is there, it needs honing and him to make less silly mistakes (which in the modern WRC make for event losing time losses).

I think I've said this before, I'm really not sure what the benefit is to Citroen or Loeb of him doing a few selected events, and from my perspective, it's slowly starting to tarnish Loeb's stellar reputation in the much the same way as Schumacher did his by hanging on a season or two too long.

What a fantastic reaction from the locals - good weather helped too.

I couldn't take too many pictures as I was on the radio, here's a couple my son took.

This video was from our spectator area - not the best but you can understand the viewpoint(estimates of over 1000 people in that one spot):

The reaction is as to be expected from the vast majority of local people, as it would be elsewhere in Europe where closed road rallying is the norm

It is only England where it so limited.

Let's hope this event opens the doors for sensible suggestion of similar events in England

Well done to all; organisers, crews, safety crews, marshals, speccies et al and also to Tendring Council/ Chelmsford MC for having the foresight to put this event on.

This is hopefully the first of many of closed road rallies in the UK – as this is the likely future of the sport, as the forest access seems to be decreasing.

Nice pics!!

Have to say I enjoyed following the event on Facebook, with plenty of decent coverage.......

I don't expect the same this weekend in BRC Pirelli Rally....

As a local, I'd just echo these comments. Was a superb event and amazingly well organised.

I live 5 minutes cycle ride from the stage 2 viewing area, so we saw all 3 runs through the stage. Probably 1500 spectators on the first run through, 2500 on the second and 1000 for the third. They had to close the carpark at midday because it was at capacity.

Virtually all those living on the route got into the spirit of the event, doing anything from just watching it to having little parties in their gardens. The marshals at the end of stage 3 apparently were being fed and watered by nearby residents and were allowed to use their toilet, rather than have to suffer a portaloo all day.
The church on stage 2 opened their community hall so marshals could use their kettle and facilities, which were, I'm sure, much appreciated.

The cleanup operation was amazing too - 30 minutes after the final car had gone through, all bales and barriers had gone and roads reopened.
The viewing area was litter picked that evening with a follow-up tidy the next day and there's virtually no trace left, other than a few tyre tracks where muppets tried to queue jump and got stuck in the field.

Blimey - Argentina WRC comes and goes and not a single comment on the rallying thread.

Shame, as there were some spectacular stages and a truly awesome performance from Tanak, who was a class apart. The three-way battle for the title is shaping up to be a humdinger I reckon...

Caught some of the highlights but it was mostly in the early hours of the morning for me so didn't see much live.

Great drive by Tanak though, only Latvala seemed to have the same pace (early on, before his car broke).

Other series are more popular - and have better, easier to view coverage. Yesterday had F1, BTCC, British GT...all easy to watch, either on TV and/ or stream online.
Yes, WRC has WRC All Live, but that is not the answer - especially as it's not free, and still isn't reliable all the time.
