I see that Japan are 9/10s of the way to being on the 2019 WRC calendar.

Gotta keep Toyota happy I suppose.

The teams aren't happy going to Sardinia as it's too remote for spectator numbers to be high.

I wouldn't mind it returning to mainland Italy ,be easier to access to go and watch.

Anybody out on the Woodpecker today? Enjoyable day spectating, and with decent weather.

Just seen rally Isle of Man cancelled. That's another round of the BRC gone.

Having read the statement, I'm slightly confused/ suspicious. The event is cancelled because they couldn't secure Road Closure Order - yet this is never a problem for the TT, Manx GP/ Classic TT.....

Perhaps the organisers of those events (and the other rally events) complied with the requirements for the closure order to be granted. It would seem from this article that RIOM has a recent history of not addressing concerns and not submitting the required information in time. What a shame for all those who have already paid for hotels and travel, especially the Japanese crews who ship their Minis over each year.

I wonder if the organisers will do an interview or issue any further statement. As it stands it seems they have screwed up.

Hopefully all those slating the IoM govt on Facebook will watch the video. Two sides to every story of course but the interview, combined with the documents available after the FoI request, is pretty damming.

The IOM needs the rally like it does the TT, there is bugger all tourism otherwise. Its 2018 and things like risk assesments simply cannot be avioded. Sits with the organisers for me.

The rallies used to bring in a lot, but they really don't anymore, in their heyday they were massive events, big international entries, but like much UK rallying, it has been utterly mismanaged by the MSA and left to rot.

Chunder talking out of your @rse again. The rally still brings in lots of money to the island. The cancellation has nothing to do with the MSA.

Interview with the RIOM chairman: https://youtu.be/fh9kFYo-rsw

I see the Pokerstars rally organisers have commented that their event is not affected by the RIOM stuff.

I was merely saying that it probably did bring in an awful lot back in the day but not as much now.

get your facts straight before throwing insults or you will be reported

Oh please help me fellow Petrolheads, Chunder is threatening to report me.

He asking me to get my facts right, this is coming from the person who thinks Eire is part of the UK. (among other things)

Chunder just a quick question can you ever actually do some posts that don't tell us how good things were in the past. May actually come as a shock to you but a lot of did actually attend events in the 70's, 80's & 90's) And not everything that happens in Motorsport is the fault of the MSA.

Things evolve, not always for the best, but they do evolve.

Great pics Ben! Those Mazda RX's must be an awesome sound through the stages! You guys really do have a weird and wonderful array of cars competing too. How competative are the other AP4 cars with Paddons factory backed i20? as I understand it its basically a detuned 2016 WRC car. but possibly just internet talk on that.

It's an absolute travesty that New Zealand isn't in the calendar again frown
Cheers, sorry only just seen your post as I'm away travelling at the moment.

The RX8 in particular is an amazing sounding weapon with a ~400bhp triple rotor in it.

A few of the older Imprezas are running NA flat 6 engines now which sound lovely too.

Internet talk you've heard about the i20 is well off I'm afraid- it's a spec ap4 chassis like the rest, and as far as I know is actually a bit down on top end power compared to some of them so loses out a little on long straights. Nothing to do with the factory or WRC team, but it is sponsored/supported by Hyundai NZ. The key to its success is partly Hayden's knowledge and experience developing the car and setting it up, and partly his pace just being a level above the rest of the pack when he is driving it.

Neuville adds 3 year extension with Hyundai, that'll surely boost his confidence going into the last 4 rounds. He'll need it, while sweeping the road which isn't his strongest game...

I'm hoping he sees it through to the end of the season, I put a few bets involving him on well before the Monte, so far they're all looking set to come in!

For those still interested, next years MSA BRC......

Has to be better than the 60th Anniversary this year, which has turned into a damp squib.

"The range of events, surfaces and high rallying mileage further underlines the BRC’s standing as the world’s premier domestic rally championship."

I'm sure many competitors don't even consider it the premier championship in the UK. never mind the world.

Not surprised about Neuville renewing, but I am with the length of the deal!

Rally Turkey looks like it's going to be an absolute car breaker! Seen pictures of really rough stages, and a rock piercing Sunninen's Fiesta!

Not sure what this guy at 1m 8 is doing on shakedown!

I really wanted to go to Belgium on Sunday for the 50th birthday rally for Ford Escorts.
They're going to have 130 cars apparently.
Can't go.
Easy day trip there n back from Surrey.
