I don't know Dinks but it certainly went down well at the BTCC on Sunday and I know copies have been sent to Haymarket Towers for them to rview in their other publications so hopefully something will appear on PH.

Best of luck with the book Gregor, make sure you bring some copies to the historic meetings! Hopefully catch you at some this year.

It would have been Dad's 69th birthday today and as that was his favourite race number I thought this would be the last year to post something - still missing you as much as ever Dad. Two much missed people (with Tony, not the Womble!!):-

I met your Dad once in the Pentagon bar at Brands during a historic meeting [ I was competing in the Intermarque challenge ], I just said hello, he said hello back, finished his beer, then went out and drove a blinder in the Marsh plant Aston single seater [ DBR ? I cant remember ] I think he won his race smile

He was also present at a Southsea Motor club do at the Holiday Inn in Cosham in the late 70’s early 80’s along with Tony Pond
Those two had us in stitches all night, it was almost like a competition to see who could tell the funniest story, they both won!
Tony’s story about testing a TR8 at Bagshot and taking a passing police motor bike patrol man for a ride, only to have an enormous accident with the policeman in the car, was hilarious, I think he said the TR did 15 trees to the mile!

Gregor, I remember having a few drinks with your dad in a hotel bar waiting to go into the Tuscan Challenge end of season awards one year. He was absolutely hilarious.

Gregor, never had the pleasure of meeting your Dad but watching him race was always a pleasure. Sadly missed but not forgotten.

15 years ago today and 10 years since my last post on this thread!!
I do still go to call my Dad every day, as so much has happened since he died that I want to tell him about.
Not being able to remember him as usual today, going to his grave, going for a drive, going to his favourite pub, visiting Silverstone, etc, is terrible, but there are a lot of people a lot worse off than me at the moment and I really wish them all well.
As the famous book said, Only Here for the Beer - enjoy life whilst we can and don't put anything off - do it!!

Amazing that it's been so long. Was flicking through one of my Goodwood books at the weekend, and that brought back memories of the early Revival meetings and the saloon races. Great days!

Like you say, I hope that helps everyone focus on what's important, and to make the most of it when we can. So easy to take it all for granted.
