So utterly gutted. HHF and I only met a few times but we were buddies on Facebook and Twitter and used to correspond on an irregular basis about the matters of the day. Several months I posted a comment on FB about the Members' Meeting and how much I was looking forward to it. Next thing I know, he's sent me a DM inviting my father and me to be his guests for the weekend. The passes arrived on Saturday morning. So sad that I won't get to enjoy the event with him - I was hoping to be in the assembly area for the Group 5 demos which I know would have been the highlight of the weekend for him.

Of course, the true tragedy is that he was such an enthusiastic and dedicated family man. Aside from his huge passion for wheeled transport, his whole Facebook feed was always about spending time with his kids - Turbo 1, 2 and 3 as they were known - the founder members of the HF Junior Team. How utterly tragic for his wife and the boys - been thinking about them a great deal these last few days.
Great post.....clap.

He has children at our daughter's school in Weybridge. Sad news, lets hope the funding continues. There will hopefully be plans for some charitable events in the future inc some sort of track day.

Good shout - very discernable voice but I'm thinking of the other chap, usually does circuit PA commentary... I shall continue my search elsewhere to preserve this thread smile

Never met the gentleman in person but always admired his work.

A sad loss to the motorsport community.

RIP.

£85,800 now. I stuck in a modest amount. Not much that can be said that hasn't already - a giant of a man in every way, a great English eccentric, and by all accounts (I never knew him personally) an utterly lovely man. It's never the ones who deserve it, is it?

Thoughts very much with his wife and sons.

Alan ‘just’ does the interviews. Also works for BMW at corporate events including DTM around Europe. Nice bloke.

Should anyone happen to be interested there are some fine Corbra prints available for a modest sum with the intention of raising some funds for the family.

No connection to the above but I met Henry many times over the years and will miss not seeing him about and our random conversations.

Extraordinary !!! What a ridiculous punishment, this is incapable of negotiating a bend, crosses onto the wrong side of the road and drives into an oncoming motorcyclist, killing him. Yet a bloke riding a motorcycle at 150mph on an empty motorway gets 2 years inside!!!!! Well I'm glad that I donated to the fund at Silverstone and sported a sticker on my race car. Such an unnecessary death.

Agreed. I’m lost for words.

I am absolutely stunned at the sentence, he might have been “a good man” but he to his actions a person has lost his life , I imagine that HHF family must be devastated at the outcome of the trial.

So Judge Peter Moss thinks Henry's life is worth a two year community punishment order, 60 days curfew, 200 hours unpaid work and whats effectively a £755 fine, plus a retest.

I'm not quite sure how that sentence fits within the guidelines but I'm pretty shocked that that's all he got.

Causing Death by Careless Driving. It should be within sentencing guidelines but as ever they appear too little especially given

No sentence will ever help Henry's Family though. It's unlikely that would be feeling better because the guilty party is in prison. They'll also no doubt have a long legal battle over a financial settlement which will be unpleasant.

No he doesn't think that at all. . He thinks that the crime , on the basis of the evidence ,as heard in court , merits that sentence.

Of course , like every person who has lost somebody in a car crash , anyone who knew HHF might feel that no sentence would ever be enough but, as someone once put it 'grieving parents do not make good legislators ' .
