BTCC Round 2 - Donington Park
Discussion
Good days racing all round yesterday, bloody cold in the wrong places with the wind though. Very thankful to my mate collaring us some hospitality passes again. Not a great day for the BM’s sadly, even without qualifying drama’s they’d have gone backwards in the first 2 races.
Good drive in race 1 and 3 by Cook, looked for a few laps like he was going to get close enough to Morgan to get him in race 3.
Just a couple of phone snaps

Wookie. Did you report Mr Collard to the stewards after race 2?
It's just that there is no mention of him in the post race penalties?

Or was it deemed a 'racing incident?'
Yep, racing incident! It's just that there is no mention of him in the post race penalties?

Did anyone think that Patrik Pasma needed a strong tanning from the clerk after his F4 last race performance?
He had Jewiss on the grass on two successive straights and was weaving about all over the track to keep him behind. I couldn’t believe it!
Jewiss wisely just stayed behind him after that, but I hope he got both barrels from the clerk.

I’m no expert, but I would expect that sort of driving should be penalised. Weaving on the straight is bad, but pushing another car onto the grass in open-wheel racing seems downright dangerous. I caught that on the big screen, thought it was a bit off especially on a straight! He had Jewiss on the grass on two successive straights and was weaving about all over the track to keep him behind. I couldn’t believe it!

Is it that the 'lesser' teams have better equal machinery now, or simply that the boosts are still all over the place?
Cole is looking very consistent now and making Chilten look a bit bad, Smiley etc, some strong performers but the old guard are floundering...
Regardless its great to see 3-4 cars abreast , was more like a MotoGP race!
Not a good day for BMW to pay for the big "ultimate driving machine" finish line banner..

After 15 years of full-time racing all around the globe Chilton hasn't gotten a great return on his investment (despite competing full time / in all rounds each year in top class cars he has never been anywhere near being a championship contender winning only a handful of races) on the multi million pound spend. Not denying that he is a decent driver and would put your average joe to shame, however at this stage he is no longer the young gun that can continue growing and improving and I see him more as another rich pay for seat driver with more cash than outright talent. At the same time he must be kicking himself for leaving Power Maxed Racing, they seem to have gotten their act together in a big way this season and have a much better package than Motorbase.
