Agree JSF the 10k limit just takes the "edge" off the high rev howl of a DFV. Rob Hall drove a DFV engined sportscar in Masters at Brands last year which my ears told me had no rev limit. It sounded much better MRS Thundersports agreed having never heard ine above 10k before.
Hate to break it to you but Robs car ran to a 9K rpm limit, thats the rev limit for DFV sportscars.

Surprised that the F1 have to run at 40mm, that must reduce the down force compared to period too? Formula 2 also has some good drivers in it, Historics really offer a great events, just more relaxed and fun compared to current F1.
40mm is Ok for a flat bottom car, the issue with the 40mm limit on the ground effect cars is that you can't bridge that gap with the sliding/flexing skirts they ran in period. That reduces the downforce considerably and it also has the effect of shifting the balance more to the rear (balance also moves about more than in period as ride height changes over road undulations). This is why you won't find a ground effect car running without a front wing in historics, despite that being how a lot of them ran in period.

For the F1 ground effect cars that ran in period without front wings, the FIA stipulate a front wing profile that you can use. The difficult job is fitting that without destroying the airflow to the tunnels, the period front wings were not wings, they were balance trim tabs that produced no/marginal downforce as a wing profile and were used to fire the air under the car into the tunnel, the angle of attack is very sensitive.

T212's are very nice cars, i've worked with those in the past.
It was my first outing in the car, yea they are really nice compact and light cars with a nice feel, they seem fast and nimble to drive too. Great experience following the big rumbling T70's belching flames and fumes out the back!!! Lost second gear towards the end of the race which was bit of a pain. Also it was my first time with a rolling start and what 3 safety car periods??? and a pit stop!!!!

You should have a lot of fun with the car. Silverstone Classic gets big grids usually, so you should have someone to have a good race with.

Actually had a good race with B8s/16s and a 911 so enjoyed it. Need to up my game, its pretty serious competitive racing, so doing two tests on the GP circuit to get more seat time in the car and be better prepared for the Silverstone race.

Good idea, the more time you have to get used to the car the better.

GP loop spectator changes way overblown. One idiosyncratic change just before bridge by medical centre, but the rest made sense given the limitations of being able to police the circuit access points on the GP loop. I walked the entire circuit on Saturday to see what the fuss was all about!

Sorry I missed those of you who contacted me via this thread. Great photos!

Best battle? Super v Sumpter Sunday. Epic. Mark did well against the old master.

Everyone was well behaved, made my job a lot easier. But boy was it hot!!!

It must have taken huge concentration for him to just stay out of the way. The speed differential was massive.

Just checked and Rob wasn't there last year. You aren't mixing up the car you heard with his Matra elsewhere? That sounds like a screamer.

May have been the year before or the Superprix. Think it was Lola T282.

A couple of videos and some images of the day here: https://writewheel.uk/historic-masters-2018/

I've got some problems with the exposure when videoing so they're a bit dull. Not sure what it might be.

I'll post some pictures of my paddock walkabout later. I've been away and also been bust so I'm well behind.
