What does the American chap bring to this ?
Sounds like a third wheel ,chipping into occasional commentary.
He doesn't even sound like his is in the same commentary box or even country. Dario and the other one do the race commentary then Bob Varsha chimes in with something banal as if he's paid by the word and has to say something every half hour to be paid.Sounds like a third wheel ,chipping into occasional commentary.
I watched a whole race for the first time yesterday. Well I sat and watched all of it and even got quite animated a couple of times. It was close and entertaining racing and well done to Sam Bird.
I would definitely watch if I was free and knew it was on but I don’t think I am ready to follow it as a championship. The street format isn’t my favourite in this or F1 but they could perhaps add in some established race circuits not on the F1 calendar. It is good that they are visiting countries not on the F1 calendar like Chile.
The attack zone makes it a bit more interesting but I don’t think the fan boost is necessary, guessing it’s just to make it a bit more trendy In this mobile device world we live in.
It has a feel of Tron about it and I think it will continue to grow in popularity. It is a championship that could well be brought indoors. Actually I quite liked it, it’s different.

Common theme today on a lot of boards and social media seems to be complaining about penalties. Would people like to see cars punted off from my behind with no penalties?
As for the qualifying penalties so what? All drivers apart from one managed to obey the braking rule and leaving the pit lane at the right time is basic.

Perhaps the penalties need to first warn the wrongdoer with a yellow card and then a "sin bin" limited time power restriction for the second/subsequent infringements. There needs to be some visual indication to viewers and the other drivers that the offender has been temporarily hampered.
There is also an opportunity to compensate the innocent driver by granting a temporary power boost to hopefully make up for the time lost by say being spun out, assuming there has been no damage which probably means race over anyway. Restrict power from the offender and donate it to the victim.
I agree that fan boost seems very unnecessary, reward skillful and fair driving

5 place drop should be the tops for that non racing infingment. Meanwhile in a race there seems to be no punishment for any bad driving. Massa got squeezed and had his car damaged and was out. Dont recall it being mentioned by the useless commentery team bar Dario who is quite good.
FE exists in the bullst zone at the moment. Lots of stats and influencers telling us its wildly popular but the reality
is you couldnt find any mention of it on the BBC and I ended up watching it at 2330 on a replay.
Easy enough to do as there is no way you would get told the result by anyone even several weeks later.

Thought it was the least good race of the season so far but still watchable
Incomprehensible penalties are a bit off-putting as are tyre marbles off line. These are modern F1 problems which FE should aim to avoid.
Organisation / scheduling still seems to be a bit of a mess. FE Santiago was listed on Freesport at 12:30 on a Sunday but when I tuned in it turned out to be a re-run of Marrakesh. Annoying.

I believe the most watched National series is BTCC... Really don't get why people find it so hard to find when and where it is on. The website has a clearly laid out section that shows all the options for the country the viewer is in - https://www.fiaformulae.com/watch/ways-to-watch
The BBC never advertise what is on the Red Button service other than the relevant page on their own website and on the channel itself. Pretty sure BT advertise it pretty extensively judging by the number of times an ad pops up in my browser. No idea with Eurosport.

Is it football or cricket? Then as far as the BBC are concerned its a minority sport. Is it rugby, F1 or in June tennis? then it might get some coverage. Every 4 years the athletics gets a look in but thats about it. If you rely on the BBC for sports coverage then you won't see anything. The BBC never advertise what is on the Red Button service other than the relevant page on their own website and on the channel itself. I use this really handy website called Google. Now, I knew the BBC were showing Formula E, so I went to Google and typed in "BBC Formula E" (it's not case sensitive) and I got a list of web pages - the top one was one from the BBC where they list the coverage times of all the Formula E races:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/motorsport/46248891
Exactly. You had to use google to find it. I just think it would be nice if one of the stories on the BBC sport home page was something other than football. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/motorsport/46248891
Ok I just looked one is: something about Andy Murray having an operation.

But I'll give you one thing that's pretty poor - If you go to:
All Sports -> Motorsport -> Calendar, the Formula E races are not listed there.
This is why I use Google - websites are rarely layed out logically it's not just the BBC (actually the BBC are usually pretty good).
