Worth remembering too that F1 began in 1950 (notwithstanding the Grand Prix period before this) and took until the mid to late 80s before it enjoyed widespread and regular TV coverage, despite the efficient, technical means of coverage existing from the mid 60s.
This is correct. And it took that long despite F1 being spectacularly loud, fast and dangerous.
FE is neither.

Its appeal since the 50's has been high speed, high risk, thrill seeking and pushing the boundaries to the limit, with those limits gradually being reined in. FE is a sanitised reversal, where its remit starts from a place of massive compromise. And it took that long despite F1 being spectacularly loud, fast and dangerous.

Lets be honest here, I can't imagine many F1 heroes of the past (in their prime), choosing an FE car and circuit over what and where they were driving. This is no Masta Kink at SPA or the Nurburgring.

The thing I find interesting is that pretty much any FE thread on any motorsport forum is full of F1 people slagging it off yet F1 threads aren't full of FE people justifying FE.
I wonder why F1 people feel so threatened if their chosen motorsport is so great?
I don't think FE has enough fans to do that.I wonder why F1 people feel so threatened if their chosen motorsport is so great?

Have to say not been a fan of FE since the beginning and it still needs some work to make the races more exciting in the middle stages.
But that last lap was insane, there needs to be more races where teams think they can use their power and have some to spare, so they get it wrong.
Will certainly try again, and hope it's as good as this was.
Almost like micro endurance race, which is no bad thing.
Only crit would be some pathetic defensive driving by some, but they are all petulant boys, so to be expected

So I guess those out of power at the end screwed up the calculations after the drivers did that extra lap under the red flag. I know they all did but there's always a few cars running it close when others finish with 2%.
Yeah, I think the drivers carrying on under the red flag screwed up a lot of the numbers on the energy levels. That last lap was nuts though Great news, Formula E returning back to the UK. New race confirmed for London next year.
Will be booking that into the diary to go and watch as missed out the last time it was here.

"Set to take place around the city's iconic Royal Docks and ExCeL London, the drivers will navigate their way around a one-of-a-kind track indoor/outdoor 2.4km clockwise circuit around Royal Victoria Dock.
Consisting of 23 corners, the track layout will see the drivers run along the Thames waterfront for the season finale double-header of the 2019/20 campaign on July 25 & 26 - subject to circuit homologation and approval of the FIA World Motor Sport Council."

How can a race in London take place? I thought that back in the 1990s a special act of parliament (Birmingham Road Race Bill) was required for the Birmingham Superprix to allow normal traffic laws to be suspended for the race.Has the law changed or does London have an exemption?
