what a race

WHAT. A. RACE!!!

Who needs Alonso eh?
No, not "What A Race" at all.

'What a last 13 laps' is more accurate, unfortunately you had to sit through 1hr 45 mins to get to the exciting bit.
Still, i'm surprised the drivers boll0cks can fit in the cars.

Disagree entirely. The race to get to that point was very good....simon may have lucked out a bit on fuel but that’s racing

That's the 'chess' part of the race. I love how they evolve the setups of the cars throughout the race adding downforce in traffic etc, taking it off near the end, until they end up being completely trimmed out. Great stuff.

I think Rossi would disagree with you there

Seconded. Watching things ebb and flow and seeing how the teams react is all part of it. Never felt bored during that, as you knew there was cat and mouse stuff going on.

Brilliant finish. Pleased for Pagenaud, would have been just as happy if Rossi or Sato had won.

Just finished watching it at midnight. Unbelievably the race is not shown live on TV in one place, Indianapolis! If you don’t go to the race you don’t get to see it until the evening.

Only started to watch the Indy series since Sky have been showing them so was my first Indy500! What a race was expecting to turn off after the first few laps but always something going on!

One thing though, how many adverts does the US have! My god their actual coverage must have been around 15 min! Glad Sky was able to carry on the feed from the circuit and put in Brundle and the other chap.

That was NBCs first ever Indy 500, previously it was on ABC before that and they always used a picture in picture format with the race still on screen whilst adverts ran. I don't know if NBC did that as well this year.

You should have seen the St Pete race at the start of the season before they had British commentators...it was utterly dire. The Americans aren’t too happy since Indycar switched channels the coverage has been awful. Not great for a paid channel!

Does the blackout help attendance at Indy or - like Le Mans - being a blue riband event that transcends the sport is enough of a sell?

At least there's Paul Tracey in his element as commentator. Shame about what he does on social media.

Yeah, I've heard something about his antics but I've never seen anything. So, is it true that his dic khangs lower than his balls?

They only provided a commentary team for the Indy 500. For all the other races you just get the non-commentary international feed when NBC go to commercials.

HRH Queen Elizabeth II clearly follows it, awarding Scott Dixon an honour on her birthday list this year wink

Another great race, makes the £10 a month SkyF1 deal seem like it was a good deal.
