When does the race actually start? I tried to watch it a few weeks back but between the soldiers, the flypasts and the national anthem I'd lost interest
It's starts after the marching band has gone past 3 times, just after the 4th flypast and 2nd song, just after the 5 gun salute.Ps. When they release the balloons.
I can put up with "Murica!!", the anthems and fly overs etc actually make a decent build up to the crap celebrity F1 thinks we wanna see.
But the ad's have killed it for me. Tried following this season, But 5 minutes of ads of lap 5 of a 90 lap race, then more ads through lap 11-14 during pit window so you have no idea where any body is, Then an advert for some crap cop show when you come back from ads. Then 6 laps of racing before more ads.
Americans can keep it, Its a shame indycar have cracked it in terms of a racing series, But I aint gonna bother next season.

First season of Indy for me, and it has really been awesome racing at almost every race, and its so competitive its nuts. A bit of a mixed weekend for our swedes, a very very hard punishment for Felix which went from a potential pole to 14th for his spin during Q, though he took the Rookie of the year, well deserved. Was tough to see that marcus lost 5 places due to being locked in the pit, otherwise it would have been a nice result. A great race anyway.
I really look forward to next season, the driver level is really high, and a good mix of young and old, and very varying tracks. Its nice that you never know who will win until they cross the line.

following yesterdays race just saw this clip of Mika Hakkinen driving Laguna Seca in a 1970 Can Am McLaren - gives a great drivers eye view of this circuit and shows up the elevation changes a bit more than you could see on the Indycar coverage yesterday - what an awesome track (and awesome sounding car this can Am is).

An no place for James Hinchcliffe at Arrow McLaren Smith Peterson either, their driver pairing will be Patricio O'Ward and 2019 Indy Lights Champion Oliver Askew.
