I’m going to whisper this but for the last year or two, IMSA has been my favourite racing series and I considered myself a diehard F1 fan since the 1990’s
The quality of racing, the wonderful tracks and glorious looking and sounding cars make it a joy to follow.
I'm with you, some proper good racing last season. The quality of racing, the wonderful tracks and glorious looking and sounding cars make it a joy to follow.
Looks like that's about it for the Daytona 24hrs, impressive win for Fred, shame about all the crashes and FCY's. good result for the Spirit of Race Ferrari as well!
No one wants to see the race decided like this but at least when they were running in the dry and wet, we were treated to some fantastic racing and very talented drivers in all categories.
My brother in law races in the Michelin Challenge cup and I watched them at laguna Seca last year and have to say it a far more involving feeling for the fans than F1.
I'm not subscribing to Sky F1 this year as i just don't feel its my favourite racing series any more. IMSA and Moto GP series for me now....

Chequered Flag.
Great race!
Oh dear, I see they spell it 'Checkered'
The use of the flag is believed to have originated in the USA (Glidden Tours road rally in 1906) as it referred to race officials called checkers. There are possible uses before in motor racing, no evidence but they were still in the US.Great race!

1906 Vanderbilt Cup, earliest photo of a flag the same year but slightly later to the rally.

And of course Wikipedia is always 100% correct...
The earliest photographic record is not the same thing as the earliest use. Basically no-one knows 100% but there is no evidence to say it originated in the USA.
As I mentioned all early references are of US use in motor racing. And I used google. The earliest photographic record is not the same thing as the earliest use. Basically no-one knows 100% but there is no evidence to say it originated in the USA.
