But it only implies that if you assume they identified as a woman in order to enter the FW series. What if they identified first, and then a year later decided racing might be for them?
Why would they even be able to enter given its merit based?Your point makes no sense and just seems a poor attempt to ridicule the series.

So what were you talking about a sex change operation and a 10 year process for then?
Basically, 2 years, and for a psychologist to confirm you're suffering gender dysphoria.
None of this matters anyway of course. But it is mildly interesting to contemplate the future of gender divisions in sport or anything else, in a world where people can, for whatever reason, choose to change their gender.
It’s about 10 years for a full sex change, 2 years MINIMUM to legally change your gender, but it’s rarely that simple...bearing in mind it doesn’t just affect your racing career, you can’t just switch it on and off....Basically, 2 years, and for a psychologist to confirm you're suffering gender dysphoria.

....and of course, many sports won’t allow you to compete as a female until you’ve either completed a sex change or have had hormone therapy to reduce your levels of testosterone down to that of a woman.
So in reality you’re talking MINIMUM 4 years. Say you want to be in f1 by age 19, you’d have to start the process at 14/15, but you can’t because the legal minimum age is 18
....So what 18 year old would go through an entire junior career in single seaters, decide that they aren’t good enough and would have a percieved competitive advantage as a woman, start gender reassignment, ending at 22, enter a female only category in the hope that they can make it to F1 in 2/3 years time when they’re already past their best in age terms.
None.

I've already accepted the timings don't work out, and another well made point above of yours, it's entry on merit in any case, so also, as you repeat, they would be far too old to start or continue a karts up racing career anyway.....and of course, many sports won’t allow you to compete as a female until you’ve either completed a sex change or have had hormone therapy to reduce your levels of testosterone down to that of a woman.

I just didn't get the jump from gender identification to a sex change - in the context of how the original question was asked.
But as you have laid out, the time scales for either aren't really practical so it's a non issue, and probably best not to steer this thread down an extreme route any further.

You and others commented on how men could, and might switch gender to register I the series, that there wouldn’t be any way to stop that, and it’s a complex world/ tricky tightrope to walkI just didn't get the jump from gender identification to a sex change - in the context of how the original question was asked.

I’m simply pointing out that it’s not that easy/ not desirable/ not possible to do.
My point about the sex change is one tends to follows on from the other, I was simply using it as an example.
If it’s a non issue then why raise it or give it merit in the first place?

Why on earth are you debating a throw away flippant comment as if it had any serious merit?
Unfortunately over the last few months, with a few high profile trans/ non binary sports stars being in the spotlight these throw away, flippant remarks are in general either meant to be nasty, transphobic or just show a complete lack of understanding. Maybe it’s a throw away comment for some, but you can’t read intention or sarcasm over the internet so for others who are a bit more invested in this process it can come across as incredibly insensitive. The best way to combat those flippant remarks is to try to explain the process and the implications of it

She's literally saying all the words shes heard hanging round the racetrack. But not in the right context.
"she's undercut Chadwick there" She's heard that on F1 commentary, thinks it means overtaking up the inside
Finding the whole thing quite entertaining, and good to gradually get to know the drivers and personalities.
Shame the coverage ended fairly abruptly after the podium. Post-race interviews with the different drivers, straight after the heat of racing, would have given viewers an useful insight into the various battles that were taking place.

Paul Tracy calls it "over/under", Mark Skaife calls it the "criss-cross"
I personally referred those manoeuvres as the "crossover" or "undercut" till F1 engineers thought it was a good idea to use "undercut" in reference to pit strategy. Who used the term "overcut" when we had refuelling?
Anyway, Claire did good today. Held her nerve during that scrap at the end; any other commentator would have had their trousers on fire.
