Great race. Just watched the full race on catch up. Don't understand why race teams are involved. The cars should be prepped equally if you want to show off female talent.
I think the cars are identical, the team's thing is just sponsorship/car colours.entropy said:
What are the teams getting out of W Series if cars and sponsorship are centralised?
They aren't really teams, not in the normal professional sporting context. There is only one team, but the drivers have been split up into pairs as a notional team that can be sponsored.It's more like a school sports day where you're all competing for the same school, with identical access to training and equipment, but are split into teams for a house cup, but the houses are sponsored in this case.
I am very sorry to be ‘that guy’, but if you’re wondering why the W Series race had more action than the Grand Prix;
-It is a spec series
-The level of driver preparation and driver talent is relatively lower
I enjoyed the race and I enjoyed the series throughout its first year, but to me it is like watching a British Formula 4 level race.
The series is a vehicle to uncover future F1 level talents who are female. It is necessary because we have not seen such for decades.

I watched it today because it was live motorsport! And Jamie Chadwick really is a stand-out talent. -It is a spec series

But it just seems a vehicle to reinforce inequality in an era when equality is supposed to open opportunities to everyone.
If you are good enough surely you just race in F3/F2 regardless of gender?

Formula W isn't just another feeder series. It's designed to showcase high profile female role models to encourage more young girls into motorsport and demonstrate that motorsport isn't just for boys.

Chadwick’s winning margin was interesting, it’s quite encouraging for the competitiveness of the season if 7 seconds is a true reflection of relative pace in Austria. Or was she managing the gap?
Hopefully at Silverstone Visser will get a clean not stalling start, as she was being talked up as Chadwick's closest rival and was 2nd in the 2019 championship.Good bit here on Lorraine Peck who could have been our first female F1 superstar.

THIS YEAR, IT HAS BECOME A FIA APPROVED SERIES...
SO. POINTS MEANS PRIZES.
Plus... you cant get much more exposure than being on the F1 package.
If they don’t make it into F1... I’m sure some of them will find a seat in WEC / GT’s etc.
