F1 is setting up it's own 'F1 Academy' female driver series based around F4 cars, so a step below the sort of F3 W Series cars, with more track time and more races. https://the-race.com/formula-1/f1s-new-all-female-...
Good to see F1 encouraging more girls to come through the system into racing, but surely, at this point in time, a merged series with W Series, would have been a better move - rather than the two competing?

Can't really see this ending any other way than with W-Series promptly folding. It's served its purpose, and if it continues it will only dilute the pool.

If it needed a couple of mil to see out the season then it seriously needs to curtail it's expenses. At this point it will likely be over £8m in debt so it would just be a drop in the ocean, it would be literally wasting money for no reason. Given what happened at the final race, it would appear it that it has some pretty big creditors, the scaled back TV coverage suggests that they owe FOM a considerable amount so they scaled it back due to non-payment.

Sign that those paying for this charade are starting to get empty pockets and are having to suckle at Sky's teat. Their business plan was never going to be financially sound, you can't pay for those who aren't good enough to fund their own racing forever. Running around at the back off of the pace doesn't attract sponsors, just ask Haas, Lotus, Virgin & Hispania.
It's been almost a year since I made these comments, and it turns out I was spot on. Only the scale of debt was actually larger than I prediced. The move to Sky was due to the good will of those who were owed money running out.

It didn't just haemorrhage money, it haemorrhaged considerable amounts of other people's money.

Was it ever supposed to even breakeven?

I just assumed they'd secured a pot of money from various F1 stakeholders under the guise of equality to spend with the knowledge it wasn't coming back.

Nice. 20 regional F3 chassis, 18 of which are rolling, up for sale, plus engines, gearboxes, wings, tyres, toolkits etc, almost everything you’d need to run a series.

Would make a great job lot for a top end racing school, or someone who just won the lottery and wants to have a whole load of fun with friends!

DHL ceased the cars and equipment via a lien for non-payment of a £500,000 debt. If they didn't require maintenance they will now after being in the care of couriers...

Auction ends tomorrow, and there’s so far very few bids on a lot of the items.

Want an F3 car with an engine and gearbox for £30k? Now it will likely take some effort to get it running as it’s been sitting around for a year, but even so…

Some idiots bidding. Lots of stuff going for more than it costs new or from sites where you have some sort of protection that the item isn't faulty. Guess they're not spotting the 15% premium and 20% vat to be added.

This! I was watching a few things but it’s all absolutely mental. As is usually the way with these auctions unfortunately. Good for the creditors though.

I've managed to get a few bits but I will only bid half to 2/3rds of what I can get it for elsewhere and thats with all the fees included. Cars seem to be going for around the £48,000 mark before fees.

That’s around £65k all in, for a car that costs around £90k for the chassis and around £17k for the powertrain. A bargain if you can get it running without a rebuild. You’ll have photos of it on TV as well.

I'd rather have an F3 personally. Probably more series that could be raced in and probably easier to get spares.

The ones that were being bidded on later were going for 65k before fees. I really didn't get the way people were bidding. There were multiple identical lots across the board but the bidding always seem to be concentrated on two or three leaving the others to go for far lower prices.

IIRC it’s a standard Tatuus regional F3 chassis, the only modification being a different steering rack to reduce load. In theory you could run it in the Euro F3 or Asian F3 this year.

One that I took of Chadders going round Corum whilst on a test session at Snetterton a few years back.
Would love to see her make it into F1 Proper.

Sadly I dont think it is likely based on pure speed, I was watching F3 this weekend and Floersch was back end of the field, and she seems to be about the best single seater female around, not sure About Pin, not seen her at this level.

She got embarrassed greatly in FREC and IndyNXT by drivers younger and with a fraction of her finances. Strip away the female privilege and she would rightfully get derided as a female Mahaveer Raghunathan.

The person who bought 11 of the W Series cars and a show car has not paid up, so those cars are back on the market again.
