Ummmm when has it ever been acceptable to get out of your car on the grid at the start of the green flag lap? There’s a reason mechanics are removed a few minutes beforehand...
Not saying it is. Just pointing out it wasn't the race start

Depends what the reason for getting out of the car was. No idea why he did as I didn't watch it but if, for example, I saw smoke I would be out of there like a shot.

That’s correct, and I made a mistake when I posted about it being the start. However, still dangerous as cars were about to move off and many do “practice starts”.

He got out in order to remove some tape that was covering part of the front radiator and then got back in the car. He got away last on the green flag lap and then overtook the field until he could regain his grid position. Also dangerous and not allowed.

Well done Colin, great drive gutted for Jordan as well, he was so close to the championship too. Good drive by Wookie although that Focus looked a bit of a handful towards the end.
Cheers thumbup

It was indeed absolutely evil. We tried a major setup change at the weekend and it succeeded in doing what we wanted it to do but we didn’t have time to refine it so it was a right pain in the arse.

congrats to Plato on finally getting a win in the Astra this year.
<snip>

Fair play to him for also managing to get in another, end of season, dig at BMR in the interview with Louise hehe
Don’t watch much BTCC but I noticed the little dig during his interview - what was that all about?

Amazing, intense last race to be trackside and brilliant driving from Ollie to hold back that kind of pressure! We watched Cammish brakes virtually burst into flames as he passed us at Surtees just before the crash and there were sparks from the wheels as if the pads had just fallen to bits.

He's always been saying that it wasn't him that was the problem it was the team not giving him the car he needed. Love to know all the details (I was hoping it would be in his book but he barely mentions those years) as I can't help thinking how similar it sounds to the McCarthy/Moda F1 debacle.

Yes but generally the ones who are saying it aren't ones who go from the sharp end to the back end and then back to the sharp end again.

Agreed. What I liked about brands was 3 great drives, in 3 races by 3 incredibly talented young British drivers.

The future is bright for talent In the BTCC

He's lost Pirtek as his main sponsor for next year so has said it's unlikely he can afford to continue to race in the BTCC. Would be a real shame if that happens.
Ahh thats a shame, I knew Pirtek were going but I kinda hoped someone would pick him up, he's a likeable guy and top driver. Would be a shame to lose him from the grid.

Wasn't there an issue for most of a season, last year or maybe the year before where Sutton was flying and Plato was struggling the whole time and a lot of people were writing him off then it transpired there was an issue with his chassis from a big off that had gone unrepaired. Once that was sorted it was going much better I think. Perhaps it was something else but I get the feeling his time at BMW wasn't the most enjoyable.

Glad for Turks but to me Jordan is the standout guy. Most wins, most laps led and misses a whole meeting through no fault of his own yet ends up just 2 points off winning.

For the comeback alone after the Donington disaster there's almost a moral victory for the championship this year. Hopefully Red Bull will pile in with some extra cash and have one of the best liveries on the grid to go with it.

I’d forgotten about the Oulton incident with Hill and Neal ( potentially a very nasty incident turning Neal round on the exit of corner one).

But the irony of Neal doing the same move on Turkington on lap one corner 3 of race 2, and then being interviewed and saying he has no ‘beef’ with Colin and has done nothing wrong , what a complete hypocrite/tool he is.

If Dan had won the championship everyone would be talking about that Neal move for yonks, which would have been really unfair on Dan. So in a way i'm glad Turks won it in the end (not that i have any bias for or against the 3 final contenders).

For me the driver of the year was Ash Sutton...dragging that Subaru leviathan to positions in the race which were unexpected of the car. The clash with Mr Plato at Snetterton was epic BTCC.

I'd love to see Sutton in a more normal car next season or even, as rumoured, in an Aussie Supercar. The problem with the Subaru is it has such a huge cornering advantage it would dominate totally if it had the straight line speed.

I’ve heard it’s pretty much a done deal that BMR are taking over Laser Tools Racing and running two Infiniti’s with Ash Sutton and Aidan Moffat for 2020.
