Last day of rally Mexico cancelled so teams can get back home.
Real shame, but fairly surprised that they managed to do any of the event. With Argentina being dropped already there’s now a two month gap until the next scheduled event. Fingers crossed that’s enough time. And i suppose that it being in Europe (Portugal) helps with logistics.

I can’t think Richard Millener will have been impressed with Lappi’s handling of the situation. Definitely not his finest hour, irrespective of whether he could see the fire or not.
Lappi seems to have lost the plot this season.
yep you're not wrong. In the ARDS test it asks you what you should do if your car is on fire and the answer is locate a fire Marshall if possible and vacate the car. Yet Lappi drove away from people actively trying to put out the fire. A bit of a dick move really.
It was all a bit weird. And I don’t think they ever switched off the engine at any stage, so petrol still pumping nicely. Odd.

The problem I see is if you have any incident is all the cleaning etc that be required etc.
I agree. I can't see anything happening which can't be managed within a single venue. The intervention systems will require that.

I can only see circuit or airfield based rallies happening this year (perhaps single driver sprint format), and at the moment I can’t imagine there being any spectators at any motorsport event In 2020. Hoping that it’s more manageable in 2021. Just pleased that tv coverage is so good for many series, will make the most of that and perhaps get on a track day at some point.

At a national level I'd only be expecting a few rally sprints to take place this year / first half of 2021. It's depressing but I can't see how anything else can happen.

Given that there won't be any other events this year you'd think that some circuit venues will be keen to run a few rallies over the winter. But I guess that depends on whether the clubs can run them..

Rally turkey is well underway, and looks like it could be a right one. Seb Loeb still got it... having done nothing at all since lockdown.

I'd be amazed if Monza goes ahead, infection rates are rising pretty quickly in that area.

I keep on reading mixed messages about the the drivers title being awarded or not. Some say Elfyn won't get anything, some that he'll get an award of some type, and others the full title.
I hope he gets the full title. Even though the number of rounds completed is low at 6 so far they have at least competed outside of Europe which is not something you can say F1 has done yet. Not sure what would happen if there was a lockdown in Bahrain/Abu Dhabi. Maybe Hamilton would be European champion? It’s not ideal for the wrc but drivers doing only 7 rounds is nothing new especially in the 1980s
.

F1 has already completed the minimum number of rounds required. Hamilton will be world champ. There must be the same in place for the WRC.

I'm hopeful that the Monza rally will still go ahead, other Italian events have been happening and it's predominantly a single venue event. If it does, the season can be properly wrapped up with a champion.

MSN Circuit Rally championship was supposed to be starting this weekend at Oulton, that idea can be scrapped unfortunately. Was a great entry list as well.

As an Englishman, my view is Elfyn Evans will be a justified champion if he wins. Good luck to him.
Same here. He's been the most consistent with some rapid pace this year. Others haven't been able to match that (so far).

Well, the first stage at Monza is already complete. Bit of stressful Shake Down session for Evans as well. Will be a very interesting weekend, and the Saturday stages (currently covered in snow) will be a proper challenge.

Round 1 of the MSN Circuit Rally Championship also kicks off on Sunday at Donington. Perhaps a little surprising given that it's within a Tier 3 area, but Motorsport UK seem content. Good news!

Monza as a venue really benefits from having the oval available for use, and there's some interesting internal "park land" roads as well. Real shame that a crowd can't be there (getting soaked today..)

Lappi now leads, Sordo has been given a penalty for cutting a chicane. Top 5 are only 20 seconds apart, with Elfyn currently doing all he needs to.

Loads of snow on tomorrow's stages, but it might rain tonight. Anything could happen!

Edit: Lappi has the same penalty, Sordo back to 1st! 7 seconds covers the top 5!
