Brilliant day at Silverstone; thank you IM; excellent hosting, and great to chat to you again Nik this morning.
To cap it all, some very interesting racing took place, which is just the perfect icing on the cake.

Having just got home as well, I concur - an absolute amazing day and fabulous hosting by IM, Nick and the rest of the crew! Some fab cars, the ability to walk the grid at the start was great (needed about another 10 mins - but racing got in the way!!) and how you organised the weather was just the icing on the cake!

Not a good time to discover duct tape won’t quite replace the missing piece of aero.

Your car / team? Of all the cars, that was the one that caught my eye - looks wise - the most! FAB! But then it was the 2 Astons that I liked the sound of the most, 19 and 97? I think, such a great exhaust note!

Pole to start, passed in the first pit stop by number 4 during the first SC event - where did you finish at the end?

I went to Silverstone with some friends/family as a birthday treat.

I have a love/hate relationship with Silverstone.

It is good that you can see the GT cars being able to stretch their legs, which isn't perhaps the case at some circuits.

Also the covered grandstands were a welcome facility during the rain on Saturday afternoon.

But the rest of the spectator experience gets worse every year - since my last visit there's extra Covid fences that, of course, were locked shut.

The new hotel and housing estate has taken out a load of trackside space.

(Hopefully temporarily) One of the viewing banks at the end of Maggotts/Becketts had been lowered and was just a mudbath.

Blocking off some of the terraces into compartments, I assume to enforce a certain crowd density during the F1 rather than people congregating at the good spots.

Interesting race

What on earth did the GT4 Ginetta think they were up to ignoring the pitlane red light and then ignoring the penalty

As usual every GT series seems to think it has to be just a bit different from the others, to no ones benefit

Stupid pitstop rule with both divers having to behind the line before fuelling, additional time in your stop because you were better than others at the previous race

Is that the #56 that eventually got black flagged? We were sat in the grandstand at the old pit straight and noticed marshals kept holding the penalty board up for lap after lap. I thought they didn't see the car go past but after a couple of laps I saw the marshal pointed out the car. I was surprised the car ignored the penalty as they were leading their class when I checked the live timing.

I would imagine what they were trying to do was say the penalty is far better than going a lap down, and the stewards saw through it I think.

Regarding Silverstone, I am well known for my opinion of the place, it pretty much these days only exists for one meeting a year, the rest of the time it is a sleeping giant.

Fair play to them they opened the stands on Saturday, it was fairly poor all day. But the ticket reader did not work, and this time my ticket was a download not to the app, it came up later on when I got home a day late lol!

There are fences and gates and herding everywhere now, far more than needed, I think we all know how to walk on a path. but there must be reason for it risk management that they leave there all year for 3 days a year and cant be arsed to remove I would imagine.

I have no explanation as to why there is a fence at Woodcote, you used to always be able to get up on the terrace and walk all the way to the exit, but you cannot now.

I see the old HSCC building has been demolished aswell, I doubt the old farms and barns in the middle near bridge will last much longer, so desperate are they to develop a bland featureless mirage like Abu Dhabi or Bahrain!

TV commentary were saying that was a good idea, amazing to my mind, as its a safety thing The lights on for a reason

COC did well and punished them appropriately

I was thinking of your previous ticket rant Brownie when the reader rejected my ticket as I'd foolishly downloaded it a couple of weeks ago rather than on the day.

The ticket checker suggested they'd deleted all the tickets older than a week for some reason.

I had to go to the ticket office and ask them to resend an email with the link to download things again.

When I arrived on Saturday there were more people being turned away than let in.
