Again, from my driving-god expert armchair opinion, it looked like Smiley let Turkington through and then tried to go ultra defensive and block anyone and everyone so Turkington could get away, until he got punted off. If I am correct then I don’t know why he felt he needed to get involved and so I do think Sutton has a reason to complain.
To be fair Smiley is, putting it politely, always ultra defensive. I think he just bounced it off the apex kerb letting Turks get a nose up the inside and, when faced with getting mobbed by the big angry train he helped create, he dragged the brakes to line himself up with the gap behind Turks and force his way back into the front of the rest of the queue.Unfortunately he likely misjudged the balance of decision making for the following drivers between getting stuck behind him vs firing him off and taking a penalty!
Just watched on playback. Awesome drive and win for Ollie, nice one. Turkington a class act this weekend, Sutton as entertaining as ever, feel for Tom Ingram. BTCC is great entertainment along with a superb set of supporting races. Amazing drive by Aiden Moffet in the 3rd race 16 places I think. Enjoyed every minute roll on Brands Hatch.
There's not been any mention of the first race shenanigans in the first corner .
My view of it.......Someone tipped Oliphant into spin , Moffat panicked and barged Ollie onto the grass and being damp
he had no chance of stopping quickly and rejoining , as he said earlier , then spent 3/4 of the lap chasing the medical car .
Is that what happened ?

I think so, not sure if Tom got nudged or just made a mistake on cold tyres in the damp
Aidan said his throttle stuck open and he did give me a shoulder on the way in but actually got it back and gave me some space until Tom span and neither of us had anywhere to go
And yeah the grass was like green ice, was one of those horrible slow motion ‘noooooooooooooo’ crashes where you’re looking at the barrier coming towards you forever with depressing inevitability and whatever you do with the steering or brakes it carries on in exactly the same direction it was going when you first came off.
Actually hit it quite hard too, couldn’t believe it didn’t bust the radiator or do more damage!

No probs!
Yeah I think Harvey spotted the damage later on but thought I’d roofed someone while I was trying to make my way back through
Embarrassed to say I thought the same thing. Saw the car forced into the grass but didn’t realise it had hit the barrier. Yeah I think Harvey spotted the damage later on but thought I’d roofed someone while I was trying to make my way back through
You did brilliantly to recover the weekend.

I really like that new commentator on itv. much better than the other fella.
Richard John Neil? - He's been doing the support races, and various other motorsport related commentary / stuff for the last couple of decades.Nice to see him get a promotion to the main racing last week, whilst David Addison was covering the Spa24.

Placing Brands 3 weeks after the previous round and into mid November is a stupid bit of planning though, pretty much regardless of how early the first race is the second one will be as it's starting to go dark and the third will be in the dark
To be honest.... who'd want to see a BTCC night race? I think it'd be awesome?I dunno how much artificial lighting there is at any of the venues but I'm sure something could be rigged up?
