Enjoying the rally so far, good battle up front. I've love for Evans to do it or someone besides Ogier (and even Toyota).
I liked the live coverage, I got to watch it on my lunch break but Christ they need to stop cutting away from the live action to interview the drivers. We're watching to see racing, not interviewing!
Agreed, and whilst I like in car WRC action as much as the next man, it's noticeable there's been a scant amount of decent footage filmed stageside, and what has, is worse than the usual rubbish. (and the lack of spectators stageside feels very strange) I liked the live coverage, I got to watch it on my lunch break but Christ they need to stop cutting away from the live action to interview the drivers. More frustrating is that Mads Ostberg has plenty of very interesting insight to give as current/recent WRC driver (did you know the engine mapping for a WRC car used on the Monte is very different to that used on any other round, not due to temperatures, but because of the frequent hairpins?) but you can't hear him because he has to give his commentary whilst the live feed of the navigator's pacenotes are being read. If they're in English, they can make for an interesting perspective, but if they're not, Mads commentary is completely wasted.
Edit to add : This is the same link that Ally linked to in his post, I found it by chance after, but this link takes you directly to Ogier's spin with no N/S/F tyre on the rim this afternoon :

As the great Arnold Palmer said "The more I practice, the luckier I get"... Amen to that.

Easy to say as a keyboard spectator, but Ogier just looks like he has more confidence in his car and tyres. A comment was made about Evans driving position which is quite forward, whereas Ogier seems to sit back and down further. I wonder if that makes his feel for the cars balance easier?
Mikkelsen in the Skoda is doing pretty well in WRC2 as is Formaux, who has not been rallying long.
Most laid back driver (both mentally and physically) has to be Neuville. I've always struggled to see how he can be so relaxed when driving.Mikkelsen in the Skoda is doing pretty well in WRC2 as is Formaux, who has not been rallying long.
Evans driving position looks incredibly uncomfortable and unnatural (but there again, so did Francois Delacour's) though Evans position looks plain weird. It doesn't seem to stop him from driving incredibly quickly though !!
Always liked AM, looks like he's on a mission. I just hope he doesn't bin it.
Interesting too to see Dani Sordo's finally found some speed, things must be bad when you can lean on the car more/better when it's on Winters rather than Super soft slicks ...
I tell you what, I hope Tanak has doubled his money switching to Hyundai, otherwise it's starting to look like one of the worst moves in WRC history.
I'd have put good money on him winning the championship last year if he'd stayed in the Toyota, and already this year the wheels are (literally) falling off...
