Thanks, I was aware. You'll be aware I've contributed to it this evening smile

I find it strange that such a rallying legend isn't deemed worthy of some kind of tribute by the PH editorial staff. I've sent them a notification suggesting they rectify the situation ...

I've just watched Rally Finland on ITV4, it's been a while since I've watched WRC, I can't believe all the names I remember have gone, then I saw Solberg and thought Petter was still racing, I was very surprised to see it's his lad. His missus was pregnant when I last spoke with Petter, I used to work at Dovenby from 98-00 and spoke with him on a regular basis.

Further proof IMO, that WRC doesn’t really need full manufacturer support to build cars..

True, partly, but it’s been built using the Oreca R4 kit of spec parts including an Peugeot based engine and isnt designed to,compete with the WRC cars at the front. A bit like the BTCC cars having a common kit of parts from Ray Mallock Ltd.

There has been an Audi AP4 build running in NZ since 2017 too.

Quite a few R5 spec cars in Germany too, think there is a TT aswell, one out this weekend in Austria, plus a very nicely prepped Swift which looks the business.

Soon as WRC get rid of new cars the better, every WRC round would be massively over subscribed.

The British Rally Championship have announced a revised calendar, after the first three planned rounds were lost to COVID:

Looks good to me, looking forward to seeing how these guys go on Mull.

Yes, it could be interesting.

Just hope we don't get all the cr@p we got the other year on the IOM when "the big boys" moaning about their engines etc getting cold because of stage delays. Because you can be sure one thing there will be stage delays on Mull.

or alienate the regular, grass roots competitors BUT in 2019 BRC was part of The Galloway Hills. The BRC is a poor shadow of its former self in terms of competitor numbers.

Has the BRTDA maybe taken over?

Well, apart from Mull 2019 when every stage started on time, and for 2021 it's the same route, with the same org team, and slightly more set up time....but let's not let the facts get in the way, eh?

I have done enough Mull rallies to know delays/ cancellations are quite frequent so I think you can say I am stating facts. Not even convinced there was no delays in 2019.

There was a delay on SS5 from approx car 90 when a crew went off and a spectator injured himself trying to assist. A handful of crews didn’t get to attempt the stage. There were no delays are the front of the field which is where you might expect the BRC big boys to be.

Of course there are delays here and there, Like every rally I’ve contested. Been to Mull once or twice myself wink

Will the entry format change for Mull due to being now part of the brc or will it still be first come first served? Entry cost jumping up? People who are now wanting to go to Mull because of the brc will now find it extremely hard to get accommodation I would think.

It'll be ok, a six berth caravan at Tob campsite should accommodate all the BRC crews 🙂
