Unfortunately the Harry Flatters has been cancelled.

Is anyone out working on the Argyll later this month?

Yes unlucky rock for Evans. Neuville had a lucky overshoot and still made fastest time. Interesting to hear Adamo saying that the strengthening allowances on the cars for this event are far less than used to be permitted, visually no outside protection like the animal bars and outside cages which went years ago, but less allowed on critical areas like the suspension and steering.
And that is beginning to look like a stupid decision by the WRC. Will there be any top level cars starting Sunday outside of the Rally2 regs???

The WRC has a recent history of making stupid decisions, it's hardly a surprise. It's probably a cost saving issue.....

The original Safari used to cost teams mega money - and they'd be out there for months, but it was an event worth the effort - the WRC's version of Le Mans.

This is beginning to look like the WRC's version of the bangers at Yarmouth Stadium on a Sunday night...

Haha I used to like the stock car nights at wimbledon..

These Safari stages have quite a few of these washaway type ditches with short sharp drops, I am surprised the Hyundai cars have been relatively OK so far. Maybe just a good recce?

Yes, I saw they tweeted the news earlier today. Very disappointing news, another event goes; rallying really is being hit harder than most other motorsports thanks to Covid. I honestly wonder if I'll get out to a forest event this year......you do wonder what will happen with the R.A.C in November regarding spectators.

Well Dunoon is running, although the first 2 stages were a bit touch and go, with spectators still on stage.

Showing live via Facebook Dunoon presents.

Been fairly rough going so far! I'm still amazed at Ogiers luck, I know he's a great driver, but he seems to get away with minimal impact from major issues where with others it goes the other way, just look at Evans today!

Just like Hamilton, sometimes you have to wonder if they somehow have a talent for saving things from disaster, or luck really is something some people have!

It is just not a Safari though is it, not in anything but name.

As others have said the Safari was basically an entirely different event, that probably cost as much to compete in for teams as 5 or 6 normal events.

it did get silly, but it was an amazing thing, so many unsung heroes like Saby doing thousands of miles testing for Lancia or Peugeot there, all for a few days rallying

But then RallyGB isn’t the Lombard either, the whole sport is now 9-5 day job, gone are the days of the all night gruellers

Of course, hence why I have not been to a WRC event for twenty or so years, they do not appeal in the slightest, when you think the longest event in the UK now is a historic rally every two years, it is rather laughable.

I certainly think it would be possible to have a proper Safari, but I would limit it to R5 cars.

IN fact I have said for a long time now WRC needs to be R5 and a sort of slightly better R5+ for the manufacturers maybe, the WRC cars look silly, are silly and have not really captured what they ought to have done, they are insanely expensive, and the costs just drive people out.

R5 is insane now, Skoda, Ford, Suzuki, Colt, Hyundai, VW, Citroen and older versions of Peugeot etc, it is immense, and really WRC should stop trying to be clever and go where the market has gone, relatively cheap cars, that are still quick, easy to market and attainable for all.

It's okay, next year we see new regulations, and more new manufacturers joining the WRC....

Oh wait, sorry...no new manufacturers have joined, and so far there doesn't appear to be any many others interested in joining......

All the while another series can attract a whole load of manufacturers - so the manufacturers are out there, they just aren't interested in the WRC Rally1 class.....

Where were you?

A very good event, some quick parts and a challenge for all.

My worst moment was finding a couple of spectators looking under some Armco just on the entry to a corner......

I liked Whistlefield - a lovely stage. If you were at J3 - this is what we found.......

(we were in a safety car, not a rally car)
