British Grand Prix 2005...
Discussion
I'll be there with my Champagne Brekkie and VIP entry I'll be there.
Not normally one of these VIP people but we got cheap tickets for the Qualifying Saturday and am now very excited!. Didn't think I would be going to the British GP this year as im off to Italy later in the year proper F1 stylee road trip and a tent.
As for the Mexican wave starting one on your own would be pretty difficult but good luck with it. If I see it coming from the Pit straight I will join in.
Button for a podium?

Hi Rubystone, any idea (you being a marshall) whatthe ques to the track will be like at 9am Saturday morning? As I said ive only ever done camping at GPs and therefore walking to the GP. Sat we have to drive and will be getting to Silverstone at around 9am.
Cheers
from past experience you need to be at Brackley for 6am to avoid the queues. its an early start but well worth it..... if you plan to reach silverstone by 9am you will have been in queues for at least two hours previous which isnt fun.

is this the same kind of time for sunday?
i'm afraid it is. i just dont like queues of traffic and would rather leave early than risk being caught up in it for the sake of an hour in bed! i think it spawns from all the time i spent as a child waiting for my fathers Reliant Scimitar to cool down following another overheating episdoe.
ironic then that the car met its demise when it set itself on fire due to some electrical fault which set fire to the engine bay!
Hi knowledgeable Silverstone veterans
I'm off to the GP this weekend , first time out so I don't really know what to expect (Aside from a race...).
What (if any?) commentary is available during the race at Silverstone? Should I be thinking about taking a portable radio and listening to R5 Live (keeping one ear free for the glorious noise of course )?
Might be a stupid question, but I've never been to a Grand Prix before...
Cheers,
Mike.

Take a small radio and tune into Radio Silverstone (signs with frequency on approach to circuit). This has good interveiws and commentary and also adds sound to what is being shown on the big screens before and after the race. There is a speaker system but not very loud.
Ahhh, thanks for the info. Thought there must be something .

That's not very fair, the tannoy at Silverstone is actually pretty loud. Its just the cars are much much much louder, rendering it completely useless most of the time
A very loud personal radio is the answer, with those headphones you can push right into your ears if you actually want to hear what the commentators are saying.
morning practice times posted here
qualifying should be interesting... just over a second between 4th and 15th.
ps. Raikkonen has done another engine so suffers a 10 place penalty again, really feel for the guy... but should make for some good racing!!
