Endurance Racing in a £200 Car. You guys would love it.

Finished making a YouTube video of the 4 hours of Lochgelly Endurance race from the end of last year. They usually run a few of them throughout the year although they are obviously postponed just now. Hope you guys enjoy.

That is absolutely brilliant! Thanks for sharing. You’ve got me interested but what would worry me is my complete lack of technical knowledge. I haven’t changed a spark plug/brake pad for about thirty years. I’d have to team up with someone better than me on these things. I’m going to look into it further as it looks epic fun.

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. Its definitely doable even without much mechanical knowledge but you will need someone with a low loader or a car trailer.

Not sure I would want to enter a race with that much contact and two rolled cars with just a helmet and a 3 point seatbelt as safety kit.

Entered one of these the tail end of 2019 with my brother and one of his mates. It's pretty lairy, but small engines and a short circuit keeps speeds fairly low.

Rules were absolutely stock cars 1.3 or 1.4 engine max, no modifications or weight saving. It's an achievement keeping out of trouble and just making the end, steering wheel was pointing at about 8 o clock to drive in a straight-ish line by the end of it!
Hoping to have another go sometime!

The way the track is laid out, you aren't going to reach mega speeds. The boy in the silver Corsa that flipped crawled out and started showboating to the crowd. He was back out racing his re-shaped car almost immediately afterwards.

I wouldn't say it is safe but in my opinion, well worth the risks involved.

In my eyes, anything that allows youth tog et out there, drive competitively cheaply is a god thing. Anything like this that gets kids in cars, working on them, improving them, as long as the safety aspect is linked in to, is a great thing.

I see the point but in this race, everyone is in the same position, so there’s a greater chance that the risk is lowered. Driving Standards do need to be maintained to stop it descending into a banger race though.

you know there is a risk when you get in a car for any journey, you’re safety is in part, reliant on everyone else not driving like a moron. I’m perfectly content with no helmet and a 3 point belt on the road and that’s shared with “DUIers” mobile users, general fkwits and Citroen drivers...

As others have said, something that gets kids in cars off the road and an opportunity to learn something is a good thing, be it team work or basic mechanics. Sadly the MSA can’t abide stuff like this it so it will never become a thing.

Could not agree more. The cost of entry for the lowest level 'real' racing is so expensive, these sorts of events are the only things open us.
