Formula E 2021 race and season discussion

Agree with most on here I dont actually mind it when on a good track with decent racing don't even mind the attack mode but the quali system some stupid track layouts which are way too tight, some weird penalities given out and the race in Spain where they took away way to much energy after the safety car just takes any excitement out of it for me.
Real shame.
Real shame.
For some reason I get really annoyed about this silly spectacle.
The one thing everyone has about electric cars is range anxiety. People are just worriers regardless of wether they only do 4 miles to the shop and back.
Meanwhile these tts seem to make a big play on the available energy ticking down to 0%.
Why not spec a battery and run a race to the amount of laps that the car will comfortably finish, and never mention this aspect.
You know like normal racing.
Its boring enough as it is so lopping a few laps off is easy. Less of the annoying commentary as well. I swear the BBC must have told the idiot to shut up on sunday for the restarted race as he was much more subdued.

Ever seen an F1 car run out of fuel? (or get fed up with "making the fuel numbers")
The tech has come a long way. They used to change the cars at half way!
I quite enjoy it, especially the rough & tumble.

They should be made to finish the race with at least 1kW of energy left, and the scrutineers should be able to take a 1kW sample of energy at any time during the event. The tech has come a long way. They used to change the cars at half way!
I quite enjoy it, especially the rough & tumble.

I remember Jean Alesi run out of fuel in a Ferrari after ignoring his pit board to come in and refuel. The tech has come a long way. They used to change the cars at half way!

No 2022 thread yet but Giovinazzi is going to the Dragon Penske team from Alfa Romeo F1 https://twitter.com/FIAFormulaE/status/14606101637...

I'm glad he's got a drive. I saw today he'd been replaced at AlfaI see they have started giving details of the Gen 3 car.
Link
"The world’s most efficient racing car – at least 40% of the energy used within a race will be produced by regenerative braking during the race
The first formula car with both front and rear powertrains: a new front powertrain adds 250kW to the 350kW at the rear, more than doubling the regenerative capability of the current Gen2 to a total of 600kW
The first formula car that will not feature rear hydraulic brakes due to the addition of the front powertrain and its regenerative capability.
An electric motor delivering up to 350kw of power (470BHP), capable of a top speed of 200mph (320 km/h), with a power-to-weight ratio that is twice as efficient as an equivalent 470BHP internal combustion engine (ICE)
Lighter and smaller than the Gen2 to enable faster, more agile wheel-to-wheel racing"
With some of the specs there, think some of the tracks are going to need to change! Looks like a pretty big step up with some serious performance. Lets see what it looks like when it arrives!

Sounds impressive however as you said tracks need to change now to make it worth while to watch. Also they are ditching the stupid quali format which is a good thing indeed.Link

I tuned in to the London race, it’s the first one I’ve ever really watched, observations:
- track is total rubbish, why can’t they use smaller real racing circuits?
- cars and technology are actually pretty cool
- drivers are also pretty good
- don’t like the whole attack zone/fan points thingy
- the combination of track, crowd, lights, artificial points/power, low budget fireworks made the whole thing appear like a 90s Saturday night game show like gladiators and not in a good way. They need to up their game and get a bit more serious
