You're right on the ego thing - I truly believed that Schumi's "arrogance" was a function more of English not being his first language...until I heard him give a rude brushoff to Radio Silverstone's man at this year's GP. Now I know he's arrogant!...

...Loeb is mighty - maybe a bit early yet to put him up there with Blomqvist, Vatanen and Toivonen (to name but 3 from a vast number of truly talented people), but give him time....

...and I still like Plato's "attitude" and I don't think I'm alone...but I guess there's an equal number of people who don't like him 'cos of that very same reason.

With you on Menu BTW and also on the team focus around Muller - Thommo won his title despite that disadvantage, rembember

Saw the thruxton slide...most drivers would be proud to recover that in a rwd car, but in a fwd car it was frankly unbelievable...he'd gone so far past full-lock it looked to be all over!!!
I get the feeling that I'm the only person that thinks this save was helped by a huge chunk of luck - on any other corner I don't think he would have saved it, it just so happened that being tipped that far through he was pointing right at the exit of the chicane and able to keep his foot in and pull him through.

Olly Gavin - great driver, shame he missed the F1 boat. James Weaver & Andy Wallace - rock solid drivers, consistently fast and good VFM - always good at partnering Gentlemen Drivers.

FWIW my comment was tongue in cheek but you're still totally wrong IMHO. He's [Plato] a skilled highly gifted race driver with a lot of nous. Turkington and Chilton are not experienced enough yet and Matt Neal is good, I agree, but his father's an absolute pain in the arse and this tends to cloud Matt's career.

Oh...and Jason Plato's been there and done it as regards single seaters.....and in Renault Sport Spiders....quite a similar career profile to Andy Priaulx as it happens.

Just watched Mondello Park, and to be perfectly fair Plato drove two very intelligent races in 1 and 2. Was quite impressed.

...he then let himself get crowded out in three and ended up in an unfortunate tangle with Neal (be interesting to see if there's any footage from that...Neal had an overlap, but what caused the off?
- Neal being a bit "pushy" and trying to drive Plato off...no love lost with those two either;
- Plato either not seeing Neal or wanting to "close the door", and not giving Neal enough room...so self-inflicted;
- Neal carrying a bit too much speed in (didn't look like it);
- Cars got entangled quickly and punctured quickly, hence loss of grip and just straight-lined off the track (most likely).

Muller was dominant, as I think we'll see more of over the next few meetings.
And Chilton pulled off a great race in 3...what a start!!! But then kept his cool and kept ahead of the pack before and after the safety car.
